Everything I've read has skirted around an explanation, assuming the reader knows why blogs, videos and podcasts are useful to the organization. A great direct, clear and informative explanation. How then does one 'encourage' an educational institution to trust their students enough to utilise a tool that has such 'value adding' capacity, both for the students and the organisation ? I work in a TAFE environment and find it difficult to convince the variety of decision makers in the functionality of the contemporary electronic media, it is not the future!!!!! Any insights would be welcome.

Online social media is 1 of 3 things; connecting people that already know one another so they can stay on touch, business networking, or unfortunately facilitating harassment / stalking (dating that starts online is the antithesis of wise). Pay attention, if they contact you first especially.

"Center for Journalism and Communication Research at the University of Texas at Austin in the USA proposed a four-part definition of a podcast: A podcast is a digital audio or video file that is episodic; downloadable; programme-driven, mainly with a host and/or theme; and convenient, usually via an automated feed with computer software". One of the key words in the all definitions for podcasting is "episodically".
