I am doing this currently, but I've still had trespassers on the property who find my name on shipping, school or hotel records. I'm a musician so my real name appears in certain transactions and services that require a legal name. I was able to find a person knowing only first name and university where the subject studied. Took me like 5 mins to get all subject’s social media accounts. (Was done by the request of that subject to show how little information is needed to deanonymize most people)

did some self OSINT and was quite shook on how much info there is out there about me. I guess the benefit with a common name is that the searcher would have a hard time figuring out if its the correct name of their target. This gives me all the reason to limit my social media presence to professional use only

I use some of these in genealogy. My ancestor was born in 1693, and I'm doing a book on all of his descendants. I want to trace every line down to the present. The rough draft is over 1,200 pages so far. Social media is a big help. If one person doesn't tell all, one of their friends will.
