I just recently started going hard on trying to build my Social Media and KZbin (posting 2-3 times a week) because I'd love to draw for a living creating comics and other art related content. So this video was like perfect timing. I'm going to try posting more now because the point you made is very true. Even if it's just a sketch it still shows you're around and there to provide the same amount of content others do. Always grateful for the art tips and advice you've given, truly inspires me to work harder.

Greetings from the Midwest! Thanks for another great reminder and solid talk, Trent. Keep it rollin' dude! As a fellow virtual trainer, I fully agree that it's important that you find your groove. Don't hold up on social media or video waiting for all things to be perfect. Get your work out there. Just start with the tools that you have and like using, and grow from there. People will see your growth through the process and as you get comfortable and hit your stride - your early adopters will be cheering you on. Everyone starts with zero followers. Do what you enjoy, the love will come across, and people will find you.

Recently I’ve been trying to break my perfectionist habit by slowly but surely posting more than my fully finished artworks! Smaller simple headshots and colored sketches, just gradually posting process pictures. I personally think it’s far more interesting to see more from the artists you follow and love, have an insight on what they’re up to and how what they draw isn’t always just “perfect” illustrations ~ In any case, I believe those who really like you would want to see what you’re up to! Maybe give it a shot gradually c:

Is it necessary to post on ALL social media platforms, including Twitter? I personally am dedicated to DeviantArt, Instagram and Reddit, but have quit using Twitter a while ago. I just really don’t like using Twitter’s format for art, neither as a social platform and I don’t want to keep forcing myself to use something I don’t like. It feels very inconvenient for me as I get tons of unwanted content on the feed, even from people who I want to follow their journey as they post and retweet unnecessary spam and I just got tired from filtering who I follow as I can’t keep what I want to see on my feed. It also feels so hard to get noticed there since spamming hashtags looks really messy and is much more limited than other social media. I was wondering if I’m making a bad decision about this? Would appreciate more insight and any thoughts!

Twitter isn't as good for art as Instagram. And if you don't want to share your personality, don't do youtube. If I had to pick 1, I'd pick KZbin for me. But for many others, I'd just say to use IG.

Test out time builds for post, different websites have different duration lengths. Showing your method is good for certain types of artist but not all. I'd rather teach someone to fish, instead of catching one for them and giving it to them. Talking about how I create, takes away from the mystery and the intrigue, I also like being the viewer. But I absolutely do the type of commentary that gives my art more life. Not knocking anyone who does want to see somone elses process because It's quite obvious that there are many who do. But that part is just not for me. If I were to teach a class, I would tell them pull out there smartphones or tablets use this one program that's already built in, give them one step and have them show me there inprovements each week, but only the finnished product. Then for the final, they would all take each others base objects and render them separately in there own style.
