Dr. Ed, I am in the small number that will benefit from the Fairness Act. However, I would gladly give my share of this benefit up to prevent the loss of benefits to children and widows that have lost their wage earner. My father died when I was 11yrs old. My working mother did all she could to support 4 children, but we survived only because of SS benefits. It allowed all of us to eat and live in a decent home, graduate from high school. Our lives would have been better with our father, but we weren't destitute due to his loss. ❤❤❤

We were subject to 15% SS taxes, Medicare, and Medicaid premiums. What should it matter what your assets are? That's not how legitimate insurance carriers work. They took out premiums in spite of being below poverty level or hardships. We paid for the service. They can't keep coming up with ways to not pay their legal responsibilities.

We service off my husband’s SSA work record, plus the VA DIC (death indemnity claim) since he died as a result of his service in Iraq. If they begin to means test, chances are good we will lose our SSA benefits, and I suppose, my son’s Medicare. We absolutely cannot survive off what we receive for the DIC alone.
