Good idea about applying for jobs at USAjobs, in my opinion federal job is the way to go, there is job stability and great health benefits. I have been working with federal since 2006, it’s worth it. I am currently in Grad school finishing up my masters in Social Work and I definitely will be staying with the VA.. Good luck finding your job

New Subbie here! I started binge watching your videos and I enjoy them. Im currently in the MSW program and will begin my internship next Spring. I am currently a behavioral health specialist/aide. I wear many hats. This is why I love social work because you get to do different things while having circulation of income.

I wish you were in Florida and offered resume/career coaching. I’m about to graduate with my MSW spring 2022. I have two years experience with my practicum in the health sector . 1st year was with children & families under pediatrics providing disability resources and/or counseling. 2nd year/my current year revolves about group therapy , assessments in the psy/behavioral health hospital. My other experience revolves around community work - I was an AmeriCorps Vista & did non-profit work with WoT

working for the federal government is the best but be ready for the workload and caseload as well, and if you are not willing to work with veterans stay away. the veteran population is a hard population to work with but it is rewarding. Government jobs are hard to get as well, sometimes they have those jobs already for people. You can move up with the VA but the DOD does not have the opportunity to move up. This is coming from a veteran FYI!!

Currently, working as a care manager for a non profit as a supervisor / within the IDD population. Read/ write/ approve case notes and supervise . I was thinking of doing my MA in mental health. Now, I’m considering to look into pursing a MSW. Also, I got a tentative offer for MSA position wanting to get in the VA . Waiting for my final offer …

Well San Francisco cost of living is very high. A One bedroom apartment is about 3000 a month. 78k there is equal to 50k on the east cost. I will say overall the government is way to go. It is also Government positions overseas.
