Outstanding interview! Mike is always a wealth of information, and Jeff your ability to almost sense what your audience is thinking and when an additional level of clarification is needed is uncanny. I finally think I grasp the LOP concept even though I have been flying it for years. Well done!

At 35:20 operating at that CHT protects you from operating the engine at combustion pressures that would hurt the engine. It's an indirect indicator.

Interestingly the Cirrus LOP assistant has you hit the red zone every time at a fairly slow progression. After watching this, I wonder if that is the best way to do it.

I have a question. What can explain why when CHT are high Oil temp is low. Numbers such as cht 430 F and oil 150 F during climb . Thanks

The heat is being expelled by exhaust rather than being transferred to metal cylinder or oil.

Mike contradicts his previous statement, "I fly full throttle. If I could find a way to land full throttle, I would." What is it? Reduce throttle or fly full throttle?

Also, diesel engines are more efficient because diesel fuel has more energy per unit volume than gasoline.
