It is uncommon in Russia to get offended by anything, even by minorities, so many of stuff that is considered offensive in the west is just a part of regular humor and jokes among common folk. N-word has zero negative connotation, gay jokes and race jokes are a thing, but nobody cares about who's fucking who and which your race is, really. There are quite a few real racists out there, of course, and vocal politicians trying to make themselves a name by speaking about this sorts of things (right wing mostly). It is more of a modern trend for people to be offended by anything, mostly copy and pasted from the west by some of bloggers on social media. It has its positives and negatives, really. The good thing is that you can say whatever you want without worrying about somebody to be offended by anything they are bored enough to chose to care about. The negative is that racism and homophobia are getting normalised, which I can see has it potentially dangerous perspectives. That situation is relative to Moscow and other big cities. Russia outside these cities counts as Mordor and is inhabited by orks.
