Early morning sockeye fishing in the Alberni Inlet with underwater cameras. 28 June 2021, 4/day limit.
Each downrigger is running two rods and a single camera. The outboard rods are the higher clipped rod on each downrigger line and are the ones seen on the cameras. Fish striking the deeper clipped inboard rods are not caught on camera. Early morning low-light conditions make it tough to see much underwater, but some fish were seen. Enjoy!

Been seeing decent reports of socks recently and going to the Ucluelet in late June. Was thinking of trying sockeye fishing in the inlet on the way back for a couple hours. Just going to be in a 7-8 foot dingy with paddes and deep divers. You think this would be a good idea/be able to troll fast enough? Also is anywhere in the inlet good for sockeyes or certain spots they like more?

You should not show people how nice it is there, so that not so many people move to Nanaimo and Victoria to drive to Alberni to fish

I’ve heard that some have been going through the counters for a couple of weeks already! 👍 But I doubt they’re worth targeting yet. I don’t think many people bother trying til well into June, but with early warm weather…who knows!
