I was confused at why they have Socks around at all, like he's an uncomfortable dude who goes directly against Darius's wishes when he meets him, and then is just tagging along with them with no explanation. But I think he's the reason this episode is called Cancer Attack. There's a part where Earn is talking about Wiley like "You don't know this guy at all, he's a complete stranger." Wiley is strange because he seems to know a lot about Al from, we think, stealing his phone. But you sort of find out that he just has a crazy spiritual connection to Al, like a superpower. He's somehow closer to Al than anyone because of this connection, and the whole episode is about Al losing a deep connection to himself because of his fame and position. Keep in mind that the show is more like a dream than a reality. Socks is like an actual stranger, a mad fan, a cancer among the group, so much so that they don't even detect the fact that he has literally no place hanging around them. That's what Socks is about. Al is so far removed from himself that he doesn't even think Socks being around is weird. A crazy obsessive fan being in the core group isn't even weird anymore, and the episode ends with Al still not knowing but instead accepting that he can't ever be himself again, whereas Wiley can't ever be famous like PaperBoi. Socks throws the phone away as if to say that the fame is killing Al's inner person.

It's pretty obvious no? He wanted to interrogate him so bad because he wanted to pretend he could get the phone back for Paperboi and become closer with him Basically he manipulated and caused the whole thing hoping he will turn out to be a hero either that or he just loves drama that's why in his introduction he was lying to make the girl seem racist saying that she said All Lives Matter 💀 So basically he didn't mishear hes just causing chaos, instigating 😂
