That’s not a bad thing. I’m sure if the UAE takes control of it, it will be an amazing tourist destination. It would be better than Seychelles. They’ll have a better economy, better jobs, and better security. Yemen is a beautiful country, but look how their situation is and look at UAE. Sorry, but you can’t compare.. If I go to Yemen as a Saudi, i would be in great danger, but there are more than 1,800,000 Yemeni nationals safely living in Saudi. Most of the resorts in Seychelles, as well as parts of their downtown are built by UAE. If they do the same on Socotra, it would be heaven on earth.

@@LegitDreamer96 The choice is always yours as local inhabitants, i am not from UAE or Socotra, and it doesn’t have to be "stealing", this can happen through an agreement and a treaty between UAE, Yemen, and the local Socotris. It can be the 8th UAE Emirate with a local Socotri Emirs in charge of their island for example.. Much better than its current state. I didn’t know that you’re so unwelcoming to tourists like that. I was interested in visiting your island for a long time, but since you don’t want me to visit and "destroy" your beautiful island, I’d rather go to North Korea, at least they’ll welcome me there. Let’s not forget that Socotra only became part of Yemen in 1967, before that, many people ruled it… I even asked ChatGPT to compare the benefits for the people of Socotra if they were under UAE vs. Yemen governments and this is what it said: *1. Economic Stability* Yemen: Minimal job opportunities, widespread poverty, and reliance on fishing and farming. UAE: Sustainable jobs through tourism, infrastructure projects, and industries, ensuring stable incomes for families. *2. You can do official talks, agree on mutual benefits, and sign a treaty. It’s an amazing opportunity that would transform your lives. If I were from Socotra, I would love to be a part of UAE than to be a part of Yemen, with all due respect. Yemen needs decades to recover, it isn’t a stable country. You guys didn’t participate in the war and conflict in Yemen, why do you have to struggle because of it? Also, tourism is the opposite of destruction. It will build up your island, and you can always build it sustainably while preserving your environment. It brings back a lot of wonderful memories. I was there in January 2024, 7 night camping in various locations. There were a total of 7 in our group, 3 Land Cruisers, 3 - 4 guides, a personal chef that cooked us 3 meals a day. No fancy hotel, no obnoxious tourist , just us getting lost each day. One hour of internet each day with StarLink .And yes, we were one of the lucky 3000 tourist per year. I returned home a different person.
