"All I know is, I know nothing" Bravo! I think socratic dialogue can work wonders for non practitioners as well. The society can become more tolerant by applying this amazing technique. Thank you for making this video and can't wait for part 2. 🧡

Definitely. Tolerence will be encouraged if we apply this approach in many of our understandings and judgments. Even out of therapy settings, many misconceptions or cognitive biases can be reduced.

Absolutely important for society at large to start practicing in schools.

An idea for another video would be to condsider the point, also mentioned in this one - that the world is a hostile place?
@oursearchformeaning Жыл бұрын
We plan to build a whole series on this but if you're interested in that in the mean time, we would highly recommend Dr Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning, specificially the last chapter which deals with cultural neuroses. Dr Frankl echos Nietzsche, Dostovesky and Kierkegraad with their diagnosis for the modern world that a world starved of and for meaning would turn towards nihilism which is hostile to life. The antidote for this hostility is existential endeavor. Hopefully, you'd enjoy those videos. Thanks for the comments and we hope you have a meaningful day!

Thank you so much for this video. Any textbook on Socratic Dialogue you would recommend?

Thank you for your appreciation Maria. We recommend to start with the original source of Socratic Dialogue and that would be "The Republic" by Plato. It is freely available online in PDF form.

I’m sorry it’s clear Frankl was wrong about the need to practice various forms of therapy. Seems clear the need for an evolution to start with the Socratic method discovering the injury or emotional void before progressing to the next phase in the process towards healing. These steps need to be identified and confirmed for patients to heal in a timely manner.

Existential oriented movements in therapy basically take the stance that a crisis in terms of mental health is also a philiosophical phenomenon. Not in terms of academic philosophy but philosophy as a method that comes very naturally to human beings. Of course as per the exact case it'd need to be adapted. This video is a very broad bruah intended just to show the line of thinking Dr Frankl takes. Hope it helps and thank you for the insightful comment!

@@oursearchformeaning Frankl helped some discover in minutes what they found meaningful, he also said some could take a lifetime to discover what’s meaningful to them. An appropriate word prompt could help someone discover relatively quickly what’s meaningful to the individual. In a similar manner medical aid can heal someone relatively quickly a similar approach could help many heal in a timely manner. Thanks to your video I discovered or realized the Chris Voss method of gathering information ought to be the first, before Socratic questioning, and so on. The Chris Voss method would allow someone who needs to talk, never felt heard to be able to say everything they need while also feeling heard before a therapist could move towards a mutual exchange in Socratic questioning then other subject appropriate therapies. I have detailed in another post in this video. I look foreword to watching more of your videos thank you. I appreciate your time and effort.
