BD has always been my favorite line, always will be! My only issue, in my opinion of course. The tuning has went downhill through the years. Not an issue with the drums either (whoever is tuning them) I bought one of these snares a few months ago (from a Ludwig dealer) slapped on a remo white max and I have it cranked. I feel like they should pay a little more attention to how the snares are tuned. Hearing them low is not the BD standard we have seen from as far back to when I started watching 94-2010. I feel like after that, they stopped paying attention. Might even have to do with the new heads they have. Here’s to 2022. Hopefully we hear something different! 🤟

Honest question here. Seeing how technical DCI is and the plethora of talented staff... do you really feel that they "stopped paying attention" to tuning? To me that is just not realistic considering the musicianship on staff

@@sodanomusicWell I don’t necessarily think the focal point is the tuning. There’s more body, and visual in todays DCI. The tuning in the snares is a lot lower than when BD was using Dynasty. Yes, I do believe they don’t pay as much attention to their tuning today as they did over ten years ago.

I think Blue Devils have lost their touch. I hardly saw a single expression on their faces and it showed in the way they played. There’s just... nothing there behind the notes and it’s a bit boring to listen to, honestly. A well shot video, though, Mr. Cameraman.

Parker Meadows how does their facial expressions have ANYTHING to do with their ability to play good. The drum line is concentrating on playing the right notes they aren't gonna be smiling or making weird faces

@@Suttonnnn It has nothing to do with their playing, but it affects their connection with the audience. I would rather see a bunch of young adults having fun playing drums, than a bunch of robots spitting out rudiments.

Mav it adds fuel to the performance it’s much more entertaining for the audience when they feel like they are having fun with the preformers. It’s not 100% needed in this context since it’s just warmups but it’s good to do in the actual show and warm ups are a good way to start to feel comfortable doing that. Overall I’ve seen directors with different opinions, but I’ve come to enjoy groups that seem like they love what they are doing as much as I do.
