the cover on the other side, how did you get this off without breaking the plastic? i mean the machine at 12:36. It just is there open all of a sudden and i would really like to see how you opened that lid that hides the tubes and nuts.

When you open the back cover where co2 bottle is check the back side of device there are two clips on both sides push them to sides and the cover that you want to take off will pop off.

​@@letsfixitgarage Yes! that worked and fixed my issue in 5 minutes. Thank you, wouldn't have solved it without your help. For anyone with similar question and problem, i found a video of someone removing the front this way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHbXZGmYptugipY And will give a description here of the problem in my soda stream spirit and how to fix it. a tiny part fell out when it was still closed, a white plastic rod with a slimmer end, like "a screwdriver shaped" piece of white plastic and around that was a tiny black rubber ring. To me it looked like a part of an overpressure valve, and it turned out to be just that. It should not be able to pop out with pressure, but the "bottle clamp house" was loose in it's joint on one of two sides. (might have happened when transporting the machine in a bag with some other weight in it, that might have twisted the plastic housing a bit so that one of the latches of the joint left it's hole) I managed to carefully pull out the entire "bottle clamp house", gently by holding apart the plastic it clicks into with a knife. Then i could put the valve back into position. (i found the position it came from by carbonating a bottle of water with the front cover removed, easy to see, where the fountain is, that's where the valve part was missing, i don't see much danger in this method, but please decide that for yourself) After that putting the "bottle clamp house" back into position was a bit difficult, due to not knowing where the two white plastic "springs" should be; but there turned out to be a designed space where they go into like a sword into it's scabbard (if they were not in there, they would get in the way and you don't get the "bottle clamp house" into position far/deep enough to click. (To me these "springs" i am talking about look a bit like two "very thick and short bent ty-raps", once you see them with this description you know what part i mean) Having these plastic springs in the right position i could click the "bottle clamp house" back into the "main plastic outer case", tested the machine again and ... ah, so happy. It works again, that saves a lot of waste and production energy for a new one. Thanks very much "letsfixitgarage"!

Nice repair! Mine was broken, too. I created a new lever made from alloy on my milling machine.

Now that's the better solution of course, but it will be a little bit more effort than this solution ;)

Thanks. I used super glue with accelerant and then threaded wire through the pin that holds the lever. I wrapped the wire through 3 times and twisted it tight. Hopefully glue plus wire will hold.

You mean two component epoxy or some other super glue with accelerant? Haven't heard about it, could you write the brand?

@@letsfixitgarage I used Bob Smith Industries Maxi-Cure Super Glue and Insta-Set Accelerant. I bought them as a package/set on Amazon I think. So far the repair is holding up (after a few times pressing the lever to carbonate water). I think the wire through the pin helps stabilize and strengthen the repair.

Thanks! I believe you are right wire gives a lot of support for this repair, but if glue doesn't crack it could be that it would be enough as well..

Usually Epoxy binds to ABS plastic quite well, but you should prepare it with roughening the surface and checking for some more specific epoxy for plastics..

I've had several break here! Its so frustrating that sodastream dont make replacement parts, its wasteful to have to throw the whole machine out

Definitely. One small plastic part makes perfectly good item as waste.. do try to repair it, it's quite easy and for now my unit holds strong without breaking.

how do you reinstall the handle? once it's fixed please.

there is no secret. added plastic shouldn't protrude to the sides so the handle can slide in place and then simply insert the metal pin.

Well that is why I can't get it back in, the metal pin is still firmly in place 😀
