Thanks for your in-depth tear-down of this Sodastream model. There's one or two things to be aware of. I could hear bits rattling around loose in mine, and the gas was coming out around the top of the plastic bottle. On pulling it apart I found 4 loose bits - a white plastic nut, a spring, and a white plastic plunger/jet, and also a longer plastic plunger with o-ring. I ascertained from another KZbin clip that the first 3 components formed part of the valve assembly with the blue plastic cap, but couldn't figure out where the other plunger went. Eventually worked out where it came from (the opposite end of the blue-cap valve) and realised this could have only dropped out during disassembly. Whilst not shown explicitly in this clip, it did help me identify where this part needed to go, so many thanks. If anyone has similar problems, use teflon tape when replacing the white spring-retaining nut and screw in very tight (pointy tweezers and pliers do the trick). Note that this repair does NOT require the degree of disassembly illustrated by this clip - don't go past the first 11 mins or so. If Sodastream published full exploded views of their various models, it would be helpful.....until then, won't be buying another one!

Thank you for the great teardown video - I was questioning the machine parts along with you all throughout the video! Got my machine all cleaned up and ready! 😊

Andy! I am not the least bit handy, but I do own a screwdriver. This video (with much pausing/rewinding/pausing/rewinding again) helped me take apart a used SS, find the problem, and PUT IT BACK TOGETHER! very helpful and much appreciated.

Thanks Andy, my problem has now been rectified, your video gave me enough guidance to pull my SS Play apart. It was one of the relief valves, it had unthreaded itself which resulted in water being injected while gassing. Problem was how to get into this spot to fix it. This SS a difficult beast to work on, so thanks again.

Thank you! I made an assumption that the component that presses on the canister wasn’t depressing properly. Your guide to disassemble the unit helped me get to that part and fix it... saved me having to buy a new one.

As time is money...it would have been cheaper for you to get a new one of these Sodastream machines, instead of the time it took to get to the end of this video. OMG, man...GET ON WITH IT!!!!!

What was the piece? I think mine has the same issue and would like to repair it

vbutterfly67 I saw a video kzbin.info/www/bejne/epOzqpx5ZbeWqcU which showed the piece, but I needed this video to show me how to get to it. I glued a small button to the piece that gets pressed and it works a treat!

This really helped me too. It’s so much easier to pull or bend a bit of plastic when you know that’s the right way to remove and you’re not just breaking it! Water was just shooting out through the head of the machine when I tried to carbonate it. And it’s out of warranty so I figured might as well see if I can fix it before spending money on a new one. I don’t know what you would call it but one of the little plastic assemblies with a spring inside attached to the tube and button mechanism had fallen apart. The part that’s blue with a white button thing on it in this video at 12:02, with the same thing but white on the other side - the white one is what had come apart in mine. Getting in there and screwing it back together fixed it. Now to see if it holds up or if I’m going to need to glue it into place. But it works for now.

Glad it helped you specially because it wasn't intended as how to video, rather a teardown.

@@iNDone helpful anyway. how to or not, I had what you didn't when you made this - the ability to rewind ten or so seconds and see where that random bit I just pulled out came from in the first place! Thanks :)

Same problem, the relief valve had come apart, lucky all the bits were found and put back - to stop it unscrewing again, I used a small length of Teflon tape on the thread, should hopefully work. These valves seem to be an issue with all SS, this model is a bugger to get work on.

@@geofmartin6125 Me three! Putting the little spring capsule back in place did the trick. My daughter helped me put the thing back together and a couple scenes from this video got us past some rough spots.

You're welcome, glad it helped, what was broken? I think the main cause with mine was just the loose nozzle.

@@iNDone I dont know, the pressure was really low when pressing it so I just took it appart and cleaned it all. I have it for 6 years now so the little pipes might have been a bit clogged up. Also the plastic part with the metal strip bit on it was all slimy compared to the rest i dont know what happened to it over the years

If your Sodastream starts leaking gas as soon as you put in a new canister, look for the missing gasket. Had to take my Sodastream apart to find it laying inside the cover.

Thank you, glad you think it's helpful. Some people think it's a how-to video but this isn't the case, our was simply broken so I thought it may be helpful for others if I film it. It's KZbin so I don't think it is surprising some disliked it but it counts still as engagement for the algorithm, a dislike is better then nothing :-) Maybe one day I will find time to make a follow up with better explanation.

Any idea where to get a replacement gasket for where the bottle goes into the machine?
@iNDone
@iNDone 4 жыл бұрын
From what I understand you need the gasket for the water bottle. if so pending on the model I think this is not a universal part, so only customer service can provide this. if you mean the gasket for the gas bottle this looks quite universal and could be provided by your local hardware store or plumber.

That’s a pretty good video to disassemble and reassemble a sodastream play. I have one too and it has been in storage for a year. Now I can’t screw the gas bottle in anymore. After a few turns in it doesn’t go further and I can’t action it. I’ve tried to tear it down and back, but couldn’t solve the problem. Any idea?

Thanks for this - taking it apart and reassembling worked - there was a tiny curled sliver of metal in fitting at end of hose - where the little cam opens the valve , don't know if this was the problem , it works again. Also put on teflon tape and that allowed me to have that fitting one thread further out for better contact with that cam. I appreciate your slow thorough method - although you left out butting the last two covers on - went back to beginning to see that,

So, you fixed it by just disassemble and reassemble?
@iNDone
@iNDone 4 жыл бұрын
Kind of, yes. But because there was no broken part really I guess it was a loose connection, quite likely the nozzle that goes into the bottle. Works like a charme ever since.

Fixing something just by taking it apart and putting it back together is a real thing. When I was a Fax technician I lost count of how many machines came in that didn't work. I took them apart and couldn't find anything wrong with them and after I put them back together they worked just fine. So yes you can fix something sometimes just by taking it apart and putting it back together.

The entire line of Sodastream are just POS plastic gadgets that are deliberately designed to break just out of warranty. Buy the most inexpensive model you can find, when it breaks after 2-3 years just trash it and buy another one.

Mine is years out of warranty so probably your first statement might be wrong. The second statement I wouldn't agree with either cause I don't like throw-away mentality.
