Just listen to "Kill again" or "Praise of death" from the uber-legendary "Hell awaits" record and you'll get an impression why Slayer were #1..

I love Sodom and they are one of my favorite metal band of all time but they are no way near Slayer and Slayer are number 1 and they will always be number 1.

@thefallenone95 overkill's first album didnt even come out until 85. even though they were around technically since 1980, really 83 since they weren't really fully formed till then, they started as a punk band. if anyone had started thrash before metallica it was motorhaed, diamond head or raven.

@MusicalMatrix Sodom was a first wave black metal band. The vocals and intense instrumentation are perfect for black metal, especially the first wave. Sodom has then involved to be one of the Teutonic Three (Europe's answer to the Big Four). Really, listen to their stuff on M-16. Sounds similar to like Testament and shit.
