There are also some "unkown" bands better then Ant/Testa/Exo imo (eg Paradox, Vector come to mind)

Sodom is a band that I had known existed, but none of my friends or I had any of their music, so i didn't think much about them or try to track them down. Fast forward to sometime in the 2000s and I'm looking up Surfin' Bird on KZbin and see a metal cover. After listening to it a few times, I checked out a little more of the album, and ended up purchasing M-16. It's still my only Sodom album, but damn it's awesome.

My favorite thrash band, in my opinion they never had a straight up bad album My ranking is pretty similar 1. Persecution Mania 2. Agent Orange 3. Tapping the Vein 4. Code Red (crazy how one of the best thrash albums came out at a time where thrash was the 5. M-16 Better Off Dead (super underrated, I think people overlook it because it's between Agent Orange and Tapping the Vein wich are usually the 7. Genesis XIX8.Decision Day 9. In War and Pieces 10. Obsessed by Cruelty 11. Epitome of Torture 12. Til Death Do Us Unite 13. Sodom 14. Masquerade in Blood 15. Get What You Deserve 16. The Final Sign of Evil (the closest thing they have to a bad album, its more unnecessary than anything else, at least they have some new songs on there)

I tried to get into Destruction but the only album I was ever a fan of was Sentence of Death Ep, which is great. After that I really couldn't get into any of their albums(and at one point I owned them all up to Day of Reckoning). I don't like Schmier's vocals(just when he does that annoying high thing), and while I think Destruction are good musicians, I've never felt they were that good at crafting a well written song. Nailed to the Cross being the exception.

Personally, Destruction is one of my top 2 favorite thrash bands and I love Schmier's vocals, especially the high squeally-thing, because it's so unique. And by contrast, I really dislike Tom Angelripper's vocals, so I've never been a Sodom fan. To each his own! Rock on!

SODOM is where it's at! My favorite thrash band ever! I truly believe they are the best thrash band in the world. I would put Tapping The Vein at number 1 though - so fucking heavy and so chuck full of amazing songs. Any fan of SODOM must watch the Lords of Depravity two part documentary! It's 6(!!!!) hours of SODOM History from 1981 to 2010 and it is one of the best heavy metal docus ever made. I always loved the first 2-3 releases being almost straight up black metal stuff too. Indeed Persecution Mania is where they pretty much got their identity and it is my second favorite SODOM album. Great ranking - though I think In The Sign of Evil deserved a spot here despite being an EP - it is such a monumental release and Outbreak of Evil is one of the important and influential thrash and extreme metal songs of the 80's.

I've been waiting for this, Sodom is one of my favorite thrash bands out there and it's seriously incredible how incredible of a legacy they have. Over 15 albums with pretty much no real "bad" ones... While I don't fully agree with the list I can see how would you rank it that way, it's actually really hard to make a ranking for Sodom, they have just awesome face-melting albums under their belt, can hardly say which one is my favorite... Nice list, as a lifelong fan I am not disappointed. I just wouldn't be able to decide between Persecution Mania and Agent Orange, to me they both take the top spot. I agree with your observations on Better Off Dead and Tapping The Vain too, really strong albums. The only one I am not in agreement is Genesis XIX. Maybe because I've been listening to them since the 80's, but I really like that album, I feel like it belongs in the top 10, if not in the top 5... but I say this knowing that I listened to it during the pandemic, a lot, along with Mr. Bungle's The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo. Sodom... great stuff. Just wondering, doesn't Mortal Way of Live deserve a spot? I'd give it a prize only for the cover ;)

Yeah Agent Orange was always my favourite but I think Persecution Mania is more straightforward and aggressive and I kinda like that. Cheerios!

I love sodom especially their Motörhead/venom worship songs like witching metal, conjuration, outbreak of evil, sodomy and lust, basically all their early shit but the rest of their discography is great too. You should rank Death or bathory next

sodom self titled album for me is the best modern effort of sodom, it still kicks on and its one of the heaviest modern albums and for me its 1 of the best modern albums and 1 of theyr best albums, wanted dead... city of god... blood on your lips... and damn, i cant really remember any bad music on it, even the instruments sound so good

I loved that album, and still do, more than any of the albums they did after it. But I still like the albums after it. But Tom even said when they were writing that album their goal was to write the best possible album that they could write. They weren't phoning it in on that one.

Not a bad list. But! I would put the 94 and 97 albums much more higher, as well as the last album. I have never really appreciated their albums since 2006, I think that this is not their style (except for genesis). The top of the list is very worthy, I also find the 1990 album very underrated. Tapping the vein and agent orange would swap places, my opinion alone. Anyway, good video, thanks. ;)

Sodom is pretty cool, but Kreator is the best out of the three. Plus it CONTINUES to delivers melodic thrash masterpieces. Sodom's latest albums have been... Okay? Kreator has better highs overall and is more consistent.

I can't put the albums in any order. 'Get what you deserve' at number 14? It was one of my favorite albums when it came out in 1994. ^^ Many big department store chains in Germany refused to sell the album because of the cover. Sodom had to produce an extra insert that was put in front of the cover.
