I honestly don't get the Tool comparisons anymore. I think these guys have their own sound now and its fucking amazing. Awesome track, looking forward to the new album.

I kinda have to agree when people compare Cognitive to Tool. But, at least for me, they turned their sound into something of their own in Tellurian. Can't wait to listen to Lykaia!
@dooderscoot29008 жыл бұрын
...but don't all these bands sound like tool? .....so sick of hearing that....open your fucking ears
@osaabd3908 жыл бұрын
the comparison works fully with the first album cognitive. still, i don't mind that at all. I really believe that Tool has their own unique style, which makes them a style by themselves. I love Tool and I love Soen. fuck comparisons, I am enjoying the music. they have those riffs where they sound like opeth, but again, I don't fuckin care. they are amazing musicians, except for the singer.
@FluffyFractalshard8 жыл бұрын
definately! I'm starting to think that tool sounds a bit like Soen :D No seriously, I like Soen better because their albums are pleasant and amazing from stat to finish and tool has so much noise and stuff I dont want to listen to..

I so agree with you!! They're actually challenging Tool by my opinion.
@davidteixeira21728 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why they don't have they same or MORE recognition than Tool .... Tool is one of my favorite bands as well by the way xD but Soen is giving more to the fans right now than Tool ...
@Brennbare8 жыл бұрын
That's kind of the power of Tool. Long silence and out of nowhere release a masterpiece. Soen just delivers masterpiece after masterpiece. (Hopefully they don't run out of gas too soon)
@franciscomoura62598 жыл бұрын
Easy mano. Tool are from America and they build a great cult over the years. Soen are from Sweden and it's not that easy get the word around. They both rock our asses off, and it's more easy to meet in person Soen, than Tool fellas.

Yeah, call it a Tool clone, whatever. That's not going to do either band justice, nor the people who will dismiss them because of it. Tool and Opeth are two of my favourite bands, period, with over a decade listening to both. Personally, I feel they sound more like Opeth than Tool, both sounds are prevalent. However, with Martin being from Opeth prior to this, I have a distinct urge to pay more attention to the drumming. Mad respect for these guys. Glad to see Martin doing much better, and Joel changing up his sound a bit more. I just discovered these guys a few weeks ago and immediately purchased the first two albums. Today, I preordered this one.

Not even to think how many bands have tried to sound like tool without success. When I heard first time Rishloo, one reason why people liked them was because tool's influence.
@phallusdei14886 жыл бұрын
I rly don't get that hype behind Tool, yep, they're progressive, odd time signatures and stuff, but It feels like they lack melodies, vocal or instumental, they don't have anything catchy in most of their songs. On the other hand you have Opeth for example, Mikael puts at least one catchy moment in every song he makes, he creates very good melodies, so if you give me a listen on any of Opeth's song i can call what song it is. Maybe I'm just stupid or not so proggy, but I think Tool's a bit boring and self-repetitive. But this band sounds more like Opeth, Katatonia and Tool clone, but not only Tool clone for sure.

This song is such a perfect mix of blackwater park'still life opeth and some kind of tool (no i didnt mention this band :) ) i totally enjoy the exopeth drummers flair who relly shows us in this song how opeth could have sound with more progmetal in it today. The bridge with the heavy riff reminds me of opeth' serenity painted death' breakdown and i even hear the lead guitar of heir apparent in the mellow part right before. Great song and album, this band shows progress!.

So i tried to get the lyrics by myself. Hope i did it right. Help, reviews and corrections are welcome. [couplet]Eradicate all life The ones i touch the earth will swallow I bless them with demise This burning feels, my goals will hollow Run away and leave it all, run away and leave it all Leave the trail for a moment Change the course for a while And give in to the present Conceding a severed utopia Let me rest in your cradle Suffocate by your hands Be embraced by you, (atone?) Immoral, perverted (trial?) [Chorus] Let the skies rain, on the weak and the fallen Let them reach faith and be saved by your glory Tonight the waves will end, signs left to (drain?) A new return of hope, freedom of the pain. [couplet] Keep me close to the marrow, part my skin from the bone Any thoughts of rebellion, are captured and hooked up to a chain When my spirit is broken, and my will disconnects A mirage of existence, will carry this loss into the mist [Chorus] Let the skies rain, on the weak and the fallen Let them reach faith and be saved by your glory Tonight the waves will end, signs left to drain A new return of hope, freedom of the pain. Hollow, shadow, cut my out of this shame Faithless, tiran, let the fear be my faith

I don't think they can be called a copy of Tool now. I don't even think it's fair to say they initially copied Tool. Yes they were originally inspired by Tool to some degree, as they were also inspired by other bands, but that's not the same as copying. I think Soen really came into their own with Tellurian, and Lykaia is just amazing. I honestly think that with Lykaia they have surpassed Tool. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us next.
