A lot of professional video from the 80s and 90s actually looks great, but most of what we get to see was recorded on low quality consumer VHS tapes and then digitally captured very poorly, then further compressed when uploaded to KZbin.

HD cameras existed in the 90s. People also had access to HDTVs. It’s true that most people only had a tube tv with standard definition and a VHS player but if you could afford it HDTVs and DVD players were available to view and consume HD content. As a 90s kid I find this comment so funny, you make it seem like the 90s was the 80s or 70s.

Chloë Sevigny at 0:13 just a couple months before the filming of Kids began and before the New York Times article about her hit the stands. If I could go back and live someone else’s life for a day, it would be def HER’S any point between ‘92 & ‘94. Hanging with skaters in WSP amongst future Zoo York/Supreme kids. Regularly Attending nights at Limelight’s Disco 2000 & NASA at The Shelter. Puzzled at the Tunnel, hitting up Satellite & Storm Raves. Selfies at the Photo booth at Club USA. Afterhours at Save the Robots. Getting to see shows at the OLD Knitting Factory, CBGB’s, Mercury Lounge & The Cooler. Front row & backstage for Pavement, Bikini Kill, Sonic Youth, The Breeders, Unwound, Dino. SASSY Magazine internship, getting Harold Hunter & a crew of skate friends & artists to hold her hand and help keep her cool while doing the Sugar Kane vid. Hitting up galleries with Rita Ackermann & going to Max Fish, impromptu post-clubbing photo shoots with Walt Paper & Walt Cessna, jamming to Tribe Called Quest in a railway apartment with bestie Lila Lee. Working at LIQUID SKY, modeling for X Girl. Brown bagging Dragon Stout at the Brooklyn Banks. Bernadette Corporation, Supreme, Made By Wendy, Paper Magazine, High Times. Smiths & Hole posters, De La Soul & Sebadoh records, Lemonheads/Stereolab mixtapes. Club Kids & fashion shows, Trash and Vaudeville, parties in clubs with goth guys dancing to The Cure & Front 242. Browsing movies at Kim’s Video on Saint Marks. Heading to SF for a spring fling with an indie rocker and then getting BORED of San Francisco. And also… CUTE 👏🏾 90s 👏🏾 Skater guys (like her pal Ryan Sikorski- seen on her arm here). She’s STILL 100% hella cool and relevant- but for that CRUCIAL 3 year period before Kids happened she TRULY was ✨”IT”✨ just the ULTIMATE in cool. I wanna BE her in at any point of 1992, ‘93, ‘94, just for a day😫🤌🏾💕

I find it hilarious how desperately ppl try to capture that carefree 90s vibe whether through filters, style, music, or put-on attitude. It's like bro, it's not organic, we're already too tainted just stawp. But if you were a satient being during the decade you know the vibes. (that doesn't mean I hate modern culture, or the 00s, or 80s, or 70s but most people tend to choose the 90s above the other decades for a reason)
