Schnittke's choral works are criminally underrated, and this is a breathtakingly beautiful rendition. It is particularly impressive to me because the layout of the room seems to amplify the church's natural reverb, meaning that anything other than an incredibly controlled and precise performance could have easily become a cacophony of errant dissonant notes. Bravo to both the choir and the conductor for delivering this so perfectly and with such warmth.

What a pleasant surprise! I'm studying Holy and Blessed Writ and the algorithms of KZbin listed this set of wonderful songs in the 50 video list! I'm becoming a huge fan of Shnittke's work! This choir is superb and very well prepared! The warm tonality, rich blending, seamless vocalization and overall articulation of the peace is beautiful, sublime lifting the soul and spirit to Heaven to join in worship of The Blessed Triune God! Hallelujah! Praying all a continued blessed season of Epiphany for the ones who are celebrating!

Wow, the quality of the recording is just amazing! The recording, mixing. The sound of the church, the reverb. I really need to know more so I can hire them in the future, please this is just amazing in every level.

A pair of spaced omni microphones of good quality and distance from the ensemble will do this nicely. It would be a TRUE stereo recording. Anything more then two channels is NO LONGER stereo, it's a 'mix'...

@@garysmith8455 Nah, Stereo is just the means of reproduction, not means of recording, you're getting things mixed up. And no, you can't just put the two microphones together and expect to get this definition of bass frequencies and balance of reverb. :)

I found this because of a book Year of Wonder: Classical Music to Enjoy Day by Day by Clemency Burton-Hill. It features for each day of the year, a specific work of classical music and a little about the composer and piece. This is my first day Nov 24.

Such a clarity! No wonder you won the notoriously challenging European Grand Prix for Choral Singing. I hope you come to the Netherlands!
