For all of the great lines in this episode, to me it also stands out as having two of the best silent takes in the entire series: Mal's reaction when Saffron offers to wash his feet, and Inara's reaction when Mal says she let Saffron kiss her.

This episode definitely highlighted the level of comedy in the writing and acting. Inara’s expression at the end, with her mouth frozen was perfect, but I think my favorite scene is when everyone meets her for the first time, reacting to Mal’s situation.

A LOT of great quotes come from this episode! Lots of humor in the dialog as well as the comedic acting. - Mal's nervous silence & then he walks away after Saffron asks to wash his feet. - The hurt look on Jayne's face when Mal rejects the "trade" and tells him to go back and play with his rainstick. - Saffron rolling her eyes at Wash talking about his love for Zoe. - Inara's blinking deadpan stare after Mal accuses her of letting Saffron kiss her. Mal walking away smugly with his mistaken victory swagger.

To me, 'Our Mrs. Reynolds' is the funny episode. Not that there is no humor in the others (heh heh, not at all)--but this episode seems to be constructed around a comedic idea, with (again, top notch) comedic delivery from all actors. It's a comedic jewel. Firefly (as many shows in episodic format) played with the idea of having a different genre for every episode. So 'Bushwhacked' is horror, the pilot is an action movie, 'Safe' a big rescue story, 'The Train Heist' a big... heist. :-) And other episodes also explore other genres and traditions, all in a Joss-Whedonesque, full-of-witty-dialogue way. 'Our Mrs. Reynolds' just reminds me, in a very efficient way, of how well written and constructed this show is.

This episode is so good because this is where real payoff begins. It would not have worked if it was one of first episodes. For example - I loved Zoey giggling and inviting entire crew to embarass Mal, but only because it was different to Zoey I got to know so far. I have good news - while enough doors have been opened and hilarious side of the show is now in full effect - other sides are coming, too. And this means even more payoffs - not just hilarious ones.

It always tickles me that the special level of hell is reserved for people that talk in the theatre as we all enjoy watching someone talk and laugh while watching something. I know the context is different but times have sure changed where we used to have such distain for peopling talking during a movie to it being a form of entertainment.

From comments I've read on other reaction channels, I saw one regarding the use of Chinese at certain times. It's possible that sometimes the phrases were an attempt to sneak in swear words. For the vast majority, the ones who didn't understand Chinese, the phrases would have no real meaning.

Not to be too crude but the idea of cheating on ones prostitute with ones wife is pretty bizarre. Especially when one considers that Inara was literally complaining, in this very episode, that she couldn't find enough strange men to sleep with for money.

I get ever so annoyed with the preacher talking about special hells. YOU were the one explaining to him HE WAS MARRIED WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE. She and the Elder is in the wrong here. if ol' Mal should make use, he'd only be fulfilling his husbandly duties. Since YOU told him that the marriage was 'genuine'. shame on you, preacher.
