Also nobody seems to notice the scene after Anakin tells Mace Windu about Palpatine being a Sith Lord. Anakin is staring into the sunset, just like Luke did. The double sunset is meant to symbolize the rebellion against the empire in the original trilogy, and that’s why Luke stares at it in A New Hope. Then, after staring at the sunset for a while while thinking about Padme, he visibly turns away from it as a shadow overcomes his face, meaning that that scene was the last spark of Anakin’s old self, fading away into the darkness.

After be burned, Vader suffered a lung damage so serious. That´s why he needed the suit (with a ventilation equipment) to breath and live. Besides, on purpose, this equpment "worked" with rage, anger and all his suffering. That´s why I told you in Episode VI that after kill the Emperor, with this ventilation destroyed and without rage and anger... he couldn´t live.

Qui Gonn spirit taught Obi Wan to become a force ghost, (at the end of the movie Yoda said to Obi that someone returned from the netherworld of the force). In all those years in solitude in Tatooine Obi Wan learnt it. That´s why he told Vader in episode IV: "if you strike me down, I´ll become more powerful that you can possibly imagine".

That's why Vader goes on and on about being loyal to the Emperor to Luke but when Luke finally finds a crack, Vader just admits "It's too late for me son". He knows that even if he COULD be saved, he wouldn't deserve it. That's why Vader was willing to sacrifice himself to save Luke because Luke was worth saving

In 1977, after seeing the first Star Wars, I read the novel written by George Lucas. The introduction gave a summary of what would later be the prequels. Palpatine’s name first mentioned there. Darth Vader’s origin in a simple paragraph. A magazine I read in a dentist’s waiting room with an interview with George Lucas describing what would be the duel at Mustafar. My imagination upon reading that paragraph and that interview in 1977 was brought to life with Revenge of the Sith. This movie is brilliant. This is what I saw in my head in 1977! Sofie, watch the first episode of the Obi-wan Kenobi series. Then decide whether you want to go further into the Dark Side….

When I was younger I was always confused why Yoda cautioned both Anakin and Luke about sensing the future and then realized that Jedi who see the future run the risk of causing it to happen just by trying to prevent it.

Exactly. Life is filled with unavoidable pain. If you can see the future, its hard not to be overtaken with the corruptive desire to try to control that which cannot be controlled. And this leads to the dark side. This is why Yoda says "You must train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose."

Although its its kind of a conundrum because this impulse towards detachment is part of what led to the downfall of Jedi Order too. The prohibition on maintaining familial relationships and the prohibitions on marriage and love are part of what ended up pushing Anakin right into Palpatine's arms. Love can destroy us, and it can make us strong. This is the lesson that Luke learned in the original trilogy and its ultimately what allowed him to redeem Vader and what allowed Vader to shake the Emperor's influence and destroy him.

Anakin grew attached, possessive and greedy which were all things Yoda warned about and is part of why the Jedi caution about love but they do allow it if you know how to love without conditions. Something that is very difficult and something Luke mastered that Anakin had not until ROTJ.

}IN THE CANNON, Plagueis (Sidious master) was a sith scientist. He studied midiclorians for many years, to manipulate them thought the force to cure anything (in order to reach inmortality) though he didnt achieved it, he understood the midiclorians better than any jedi or sith, he actually could save anyones life through them, heal and stuff. He was murdered by Palpatine while he was weak though. Palpatine didnt learn anything of this before killing his master so anyway he couldnt have help Anakin to learn something he didnt know how to do.

For me, the Jedi council, pushed A LOT Anakin to the dark side. They´re afraid of him, never truly trusted him, never gave him any serious mission... and mixed with Anakin fears (mostly for Padme) and feeling himself always excluded... the final step was all the Emperor´s manipulation during years but... the Jedi Council had big part of responsibility in this disaster. Even in the last chance he said the truth to Windu. Anakin tried and tried to follow the right path, but all these things became him in Darth Vader. The Emperor was right, unfortunately, when he said something about the "dogmatic and narrow view of the Jedi". They were blinded...

Maybe in some ways but I think a lot of those criticisms are unwarranted. For example Windu was correct to have Anakin stay behind, as we see when Anakin shows up later he is conflicted and makes a pretty bad mistake. You seem to also be referencing the seemingly callous prohibition against attachment but I think that is also unfair to the Jedi. The Jedi didn't know about his relationship with Padme and so were unable to respond appropriately. Anakin could have left the order to be with her but he wanted it all. You cannot be a monk and a husband at the same time, they are mutually exclusive because they require everything from you. Anakin was greedy and although he did have genuine love, especially as we see in the OT when he sacrifices himself to save his son, his desire to save Padme wasn't out of a love for Padme, it was purely self serving, as you can clearly see when she rejects all of his plans he claims are "for her".

@@nathanbean8763 The whole point of Anakin is that he was supposed to show the way forward for the Jedi. Qui-Gon knew this. The Jedi Order at that time did not represent what a Jedi should be. Anakin's views and way of thinking actually aligns more with what the Jedi should be. To not simply be monks, but to be human and embrace humanity. To be pragmatic and help those in need no matter what. Qui-Gon was the only one among them who had not yet given up on the old principles of Jedi being able to love and feel. His death sealed Anakin's fate, but the Council absolutely could've prevented everything if only they had not worked against the prophecy. Instead of embracing who he was, they left him alone with a young Obi-Wan, who was still a padawan himself and totally out of his depth. The Chosen One should've been at the temple, mentored by the wise masters. That would've built trust from the beginning. Anakin was going to bring balance one way or the order, but as long as the Jedi kept pushing him away, there was only one way to fulfillment and that was through the dark side. Anakin could've brought balance through the light if the Jedi had allowed him to...

@@dantesilvermine5160 No, Lucas made it quite clear. Anakin is the Chosen One, therefore Anakin was created by the Force; not by some other entity via the Force. That's why Lucas originally wrote in the red herring but chose to trash it before the final draft, he wanted it kept clear that Anakin was legitimately the Chosen One. The EU then decided to muddy the waters themselves and then create a hamfisted workaround that wasn't necessary.

I still firmly stick to the head canon theory that Sidious used Anakin's love for Padme as a conduit through the Force to drain her life energy and siphon it into Vader in order to both save his life and end hers. He then doubles down on the deception by telling Vader that he was the one who killed her which, from a certain point of view, would still be true even with this theory. It's really the only way to rationalize a woman as strong as Padme simply giving up on life after not only just giving birth to two children that would be entirely dependent on her but also claiming that she still believes there's good in Anakin. It just makes no sense otherwise.

Nope she lost the will to live. The movie clearly tells you that and George Lucas has confirmed this. Emotional stress is what caused her death and Anakin trying to prevent her death is what indirectly killed her. Her soul and spirit has been crushed and that’s the tragedy of the situation. She wasn’t strong enough to carry on at this point because of everything that has happened and the original script confirms this.

What I love about this film is that it even shows women how tense and emotional it really is. My partner was like “Nope not watching Star Wars ever” after time and persuasion she caved in and she got hooked. She loves this film and straight away knew how actual powerful this movie alone was in the whole saga. She even got teary during Anakin’s and Obi’s fight and what happened in the end. Such a brilliant film, your emotions and reactions to the scenes, you get it, you understand.

You would totally love the Clone wars series from 2008 after having seen your reaction to this movie which tbh is the only great movie of the prequels. I totally recommend reacting to Star Wars the clone war series. It’s a 7 season show that delves into and expands into the period between episodes 2 and 3 so we see all the politics, character development in Anakin, Obi and many more especially the clones and much more. 45:04 React to ten clone wars show and you’ll cry so hard about this. It may seem like a luk but a lot of channels in KZbin have and stuck are reacting to that series so if you really wanna see PEAK Star Wars I can’t say anything else than you should react or watch that show since it’s very popular.

"The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural." Gives me chills every time. Love that opera scene. Hey, Sofie! Well, you got wise to Palpatine before the reveal but still had a great reaction! Lucas provided visual and vocal cues since "Phantom Menace" that Palpatine and Sidious were one and the same. Ian McDiarmid plays the Emperor in all the Star Wars films in which he appears. He's the one character having a total blast throughout the prequels because he's pulling everybody's strings! His seduction of Anakin is masterful. The absolute best line of the Prequel trilogy goes to Natalie Portman: "So this is how liberty dies...with thunderous applause." Wookiees live for hundreds of years! In "Revenge of the Sith", Chewbacca is 181 years old! It is a popular belief that Padme's life force was drained out of her and channeled into Anakin by Palpatine which is why her death and his re-birth are juxtaposed by Lucas. Therefore, Palpy is directly responsible for the death of the person he convinced Anakin he could save prompting his betrayal of the Jedi in the first place! A very cruel manipulation. One of the Jedi Order's problems is that they had become ossified by dogma and had lost touch with their true purpose. This made them vulnerable to manipulation by the Sith and blind to their own shortcomings. Iconoclasts like Qui-Gon sought esoteric knowledge beyond ordained teachings to plumb deeper truths and were viewed as troublesome for suggesting the Order had become complacent and stagnant. The knowledge Yoda imparts to Obi-Wan at the end is his discovery of the path to immortality. His spiritual journey is chronicled in the animated "Clone Wars" when he is instructed in the deepest mysteries of the Force. Jedi immortality manifests as the Force-ghosts you see in the Classic trilogy. This was an ability unknown to the Order until Qui-Gon contacts Yoda which is why there are no Force-ghosts in the Prequel trilogy. The Jedi are all but exterminated by Order 66 much like how the Knights Templar were rounded up on a single day, Friday the 13th, in October 1307, by order of the French King Philip IV in a series of coordinated, simultaneous arrests. Emperor Palpatine initiated a smear campaign to vilify the Jedi and expunged any mention of them from the historical record. Philip IV did the same to the Templars demonizing them with false allegations of larceny, murder, sexual perversion, sedition and Satanism that led to their mass burning at the stake with the blessing of the Papacy! Palpy achieved control of a galaxy with his scheme while Philip was simply dodging the crushing debt he owed the Order! The clones are tragic pawns in Palpatine's scheme. They were bred by the Republic and were loyal to their creators serving through thick and thin with their Jedi Generals. The animated "Clone Wars" does a magnificent job of individualizing the troopers. However, they were engineered with a fail-safe to force them to obey executive decisions without question. Initiating Order 66 flips the switch in their brains forcibly turning them against the Jedi whom they previously would have died for. It's a horrifying betrayal not least of which to the clones themselves. Although the Separatist leadership was led by Count Dooku, they weren't privy to the collusion between Dooku and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Each Sith Lord led a faction in the Clone Wars to play both sides against each other creating chaos they could manipulate to their personal advantage! The populations of the worlds which aligned with one faction or the other truly believed in their respective causes which were socioeconomic and geopolitical. The layman had no idea he was just a pawn in Palpatine's grand scheme. With the Jedi exterminated, the greatest threat to his plan was taken off the board and he sent Vader to dispose of the Separatist leadership so he could consolidate power over the organizations they represented. The Separatist worlds relied on the support of those industries and institutions so those worlds would fall in line once those support systems were firmly in the Emperor's grip. The japor snippet pendant Amidala was buried wearing was the same one Anakin carved for her in "Phantom Menace". Senator Bail Organa orders C-3PO's mind to be wiped but R2-D2's CPU is left intact. Exactly, you took most of the words right out of my mouth. The Jedi had lost their way a long time ago, it was their failure to change, to adapt to the times that also doomed them. In the ROTS novel Yoda finally realized that he had been too rigid, too arrogant, that he was largely at fault because he didn’t allow the Jedi order to change. He also realized that the Jedi had been wrong to take younglings into the order since it deprived them of their right to choose that life for themselves.

I really don't think Padmé died because of a broken heart. Her last words were "There's still good in him." She was a fighter her whole life. She wouldn't have given up on life like that. Not until she tried everything to convince Anakin to turn back to the light. Also she just delivered two kids which are two very good reasons to not give up on life. I believe Palpatine actually knew how he can "save the one he cared about". I think he kept Anakin alive by draining away Padmé's life. I mean Palpatine wanted Padmé dead anyway because he saw her as a threat to his dominance over Anakin. The droid doctor had no idea what was happening, it just said what the only logical scenario should be according to its programming. I also like this theory because it means Padmé continues to live in Anakin in some form. His wife saved his life, and later his son saves his soul.

From my understanding, the sith saved someone they loved by taking the life force from someone else and giving it to them. Vader was kept alive because sideus used padme’s life force to keep him alive during surgery until his life support in his suit could be activated. So he did know the secret. He wasn’t going to let anakin know what it involves.

Later, in a desperate attempt to reach him, to talk him down and get him to come away with her,to leave everything else behind, Padmé tries to find that moment again, that moment where she herself felt the Force and could feel Anakin.

I love Sofia’s reactions to this phenomenal series, I just wish that a lot more people would understand Anakin well as she does? There’s one fundamental thing that Yoda never understood and was wrong about (until he became one with the force), and that is that having connections (attachments) is not a bad thing as long as one learns how to have manage them in a healthy way, it’s all about balancing duty and attachment. Yoda lived too long (his race lives 900 years) and had seen too many friends pass on. So he came to the wrong conclusion that not having attachments was necessary in order for Jedi to be impartial and to not fall to the dark side. This is explained in a video titled “Yoda is an Idiot” which delves into Yoda’s misguided approach to attachments. Without having connections (attachments) the Jedi had become far less compassionate than they were supposed be. Yoda should’ve reminded himself that most Jedi won’t live as long as he did and to not let his experiences influence his judgement when it came to the other Jedi. Qui Gon was the only Jedi that had not given up on attachments, he understood that Jedi are supposed to care and love, and that’s why he was the only Jedi who could’ve helped Anakin to channel his feelings, to find an outlet for them. Whereas Obi Wan was too harsh in his training of Anakin, he mistakenly trained Anakin the way that the council wanted instead of the way Qui Gon would’ve wanted it. Obi Wan was too stuck in the dogmatic ways of the order until his time on Tatooine. In the novel Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back - From a Certain Point of View we see that Obi Wan deeply regretted how he had always doubted Anakin and that he didn’t defend Anakin against the Jedi council, that he just stood there and let them break him down. He also rebukes Yoda in his inner monologue by noting that Anakin’s path had never been easy, the council refused to accept Anakin as he was, they through obstacles in his path that no other Jedi had to surmount, that they never trusted him. He realized that Anakin was under so much pressure from being the Chosen One, and how he always felt like an outcast in the order. Yoda had indeed failed Anakin, Ahsoka, and the Jedi order because he had been too rigid, arrogant, and because he didn’t allow the order to change, to adapt to the times. Yoda also came to understand that taking infants into the order was wrong because it deprived them of their right to choose to be Jedi for themselves. The other serious mistake that the Jedi made was allowing themselves to become nothing more than enforcers for the Senate instead of following the will of the force, and to serve as true guardians of the people of the galaxy. Thankfully in Star Wars Legends & Expanded Universe Luke’s new Jedi order is very different, they learned from the mistakes of the previous order. His new order didn’t take infants from their families, they admitted people of all ages, they even encouraged Jedi to marry and have families. Forget the order and Luke from the sequel trilogy, they didn’t do his character justice.

Fantastic analysis. Lucas did also put the emphasis on how republics can turn to dictatorships. With years of war, death, destruction, he was able to put full control in his hands by the parliamentary system unknowingly gifting it to him by a false sense of security. Absolutely brilliant. “This is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause” also a pivotal part of the entire series. By far my favorite, and a tale of caution in any era.

Hayden kinda quit acting after this, he did a couple things then became a farmer in Canada. But recently came back to acting. He's a great actor. You can see how much he improved in this film compared to the previous film
