I wish there was more information like this when I started, youtube was nowhere near in depth at that time either lol. A lot of people see this and say they can achieve the same thing with 1 set of tools. And while they may be able to, they don't understand why. I run the gold standard blade and had no idea that the graphite blade had a different setting to begin with. Mad respect for you doing this. I love it!

Some people knock it out before but i do this to save time and do the shaver at the end. I honestly switch back n forth on that depends on what type of cut. Single foil is just lightweight for me and small for detailing and it’s my go to for that purpose. Hope that helps !

Exactly the information I'm looking for. Great content. Thank you. And yes. It does make sense of what each blade specializes in. Now that I watch your video 🎥. I was going to go with the black trimmers. But I have bulk removers. I need good hitters on edging. For crispy edges. (Yes I use the razor too.) So I'm gonna go with the gold trimmer. Maybe modify the blade a little. (But I hear this probably won't be necessary.) Your video was absolutely what I needed to see. Oh. By the way. Really nice cut too. Later 😎👍

Just want to start by saying I love your videos. Really good and very informative! Thanks! 🙏 I am struggling to make my mind up on what trimmer to buy and kind of hoped you could could give me your 5 pence 😬 Seems I am not alone looking for answers to this, so might benefit others as well. I am a "home user" looking for a trimmer that can do my beard with 3-6mm plus lines... so would not mind zero gapping possibility. I would however also want to use the same trimmer for my head with maybe 1-3mm lenght. I am kind of set on Babyliss for some reason, but open to options! Which trimmer would you suggest for this use? I guess I need a guide combs compaitble trimmer to manage the different lenghts? Price is not a main deciding factor, but naturally USD 150 is better than USD 300 😃

any of the babyliss trimmers will do the job you're looking for! specific blades i would say is the Standard blade of the DLC 2.0 blade not mentioned in this video. (newer blade that came out after this video was made)

@@Staygold31Thanks for the reply! I was considering the Boost+ FX which seems perfect, but seems to come with a deep tooth blade which I guess must be what you recommended as well? Can only find DLC 2.0 as deep tooth. Many people seem to think the deep tooth cuts your skin which I do not want. Question: Is there a functional difference between these two blades, if they're both zero gapped? It feels like they would be utilizing the same areas of the blade - Wouldn't that be reducing the Deep Tooth blade to a Standard blade?
@Staygold313 жыл бұрын
I totally understand the confusing part of that question lol deep tooth blade has wider gaps so the pick up for a clean crisp line is a little less intense than what a standard blade leaves as far as a finish. Sure you can get there with either and depending on the user, they know how to tweak their tools to get it perfectly to where they need it. Once u drop them, they do land at the same place..only difference is how much teeth are hitting the skin when it comes into contact. Hopefully that makes sense! Wider gaps are better for some coarse textures or cutting through thicker hair
@BobaDavis3 жыл бұрын
@@Staygold31 I will say one thing I've noticed is that the Fine Tooth blade, which does make me work a bit more on thicker textures of hair has the benefit of not catching in people's skin - My Deep Tooth almost always caught into the skin of my client's neck.

@dominodon814 жыл бұрын
So deep tooth is better for balding out, and standard is better for line ups. But you can accomplish both with either.
@Staygold314 жыл бұрын
For that initial function yes. Each of them highlight something better the other can do in less strokes test, BUT you can achieve both separately. most def ESP if you finish anything off with a razor to clean up any lines.. as long as you had a curve in place from the trimmer to follow, it gets tight and perfect by razor follow up. Hope that makes sense!

How different is the fine tooth blade for lining up compared to the standard blade on the GoldFX?
@Staygold312 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t seem that the fine tooth blade is a popular option. Most people prefer the standard blade cuz it’s the best of both worlds. Fine tooth is great for some cases but not universal for most situations. Say something has a thick hairline (number 4 guard) and wants a line up… cuz the teeth are so close .. it won’t cut thru as well as a standard or deep tooth blade. Hope that helps!
@Staygold312 жыл бұрын

I mean do as you will with your tools but I feel the gold ones definitely are just better suited to just edging/lining up. I do a little taper with the gold ones but as I feel a little resistance with them I don’t rely on them for fading.

Any idea how to get rid of the loud noise that it makes. If it comes from the blade or trimmer?
