I was hoping you would do a little blog about this !! Your insta updates were lovely ❤️ I got back to see my sister and my brother in law in Bergamo last September, and it was very surreal. Bergamo doesn’t get huge crowds like the popular cities, but is busy to an extent over the summer and Christmas period....but there was no one in the streets at all. Just me and one or two other people walking around. It was peaceful, but very strange. The aftermath of the what had happened in the first wave still hung in the air. It was lovely to be back, but I broke down a few times for various reasons during that trip.... but I was so relived and glad to be there. I didn’t want to leave again. Obviously things have moved forward for the whole country now and I’m glad you got to have pretty much Rome to yourself for your trip!! I’ve missed these types of vlogs.

@@Emily_Hurley It was just because there were people I was used to seeing in Bergamo who sadly aren’t with us anymore. Seeing their apartment for sale, or their shop empty was sad. My family and my brother in law’s family are very close. We ( usually) spend Christmas together & see them pretty much everyday when I visit ....they lost three members of their family to Covid ....When i saw them again, everyone looked so haunted. I knew things would be different when I saw them, I was glad to see them, but it was overwhelming, ( if that’s the right word) I just wanted to go back to a time when everyone was together and happy & none of it had happened. My sister told me that everyone in Bergamo lost somebody. There was sadness & shock in the air. You could feel it. It wasn’t the same city. I’m sorry if this was such a long winded, overly emotional reply. I have a habit of going off on a tangent far too often.
