Love when y’all do this technique every time because I’m one of those people who has no confidence in a hard jerk bait but all the confidence in the world on a fluke. Thanks as always for the information sir.

@c.shoefish where are you in NY? I also live in NY and am looking to find some good places and good people to fish with. The last month has been sooooo tough for me fish wise bc I can only usually bank fish and don't have much transportation, add on top its so soooo highly pressured by me, it's really been a struggle lately.

Hello Matt. Love the in-depth videos. I got one point to recommend to you to try for Smallmouth that I use up here in Southern Ontario Canada...Baits with Copper flake till 10:30am then the same colour bait in Gold flake for rest of the Day. When Sun starts to set low go back to Copper...Sunlight Angle to match the flake...Enjoy!!

Great fluke update. I spent a few hours this evening fishing the donkey rig. A bit difficult to cast, but super fun to fish. Earlier this year I started nose hooking. I found that if I use a snell knot my hookup ratio immediately goes up.

Maybe in the near future would it be possible to put out a video on how much you should be working the rod take like 5 baits, that way the beginner anglers would have a better idea that is doesn’t take much ,some may be working too much, that’s why I’m asking if yow can fit that in down the line. Thanks so much to the both of you be safe and god bless.

Love what you taught here but I want to add, tangentially related to flukes; I'm a pond angler primarily, no boat, but even when I get out on a lake the one fluke-like bait that PRODUCES sizable bass for me is the KVD Caffeine shad in KVD Magic. I'm not an old angler by any means, less than 5 years under my belt, but that thing kills for good largemouth. Current PB caught on that, 4lbs largemouth on a 0.3acre public park pond.

Thanks for more great info. You turned me onto soft jerkbaits in one of your past videos and it has become my go-to bait for big northern river smallmouth. Combine that with a senko rigged wacky for a flow-up bait and it’s a combination that’s hard to beat. I think your remiss in not including the KVD Caffeine Shad on your list. I think the Caffeine Shad is hard to beat for effectiveness and durability. I have been using the Owner Twistlock hooks for the 5” Caffeine Shad which also improves durability. I agree nose hooking the Super Fluke is the most effective for catching fish. I use swivels of different sizes to help adjust fishing depth and action, and reduce line twist. Thanks again for all the great info!

My top 3 fluke style baits are z man streaks , bass assian fluke , Yamamoto d Shad , kinda a un know style of fluke fishing is the z man streaks with a light wire hook will float so you can fish it like a skipping bait on the surface or a twitch and set technique with it floating on the surface on I have found if fishing holes in grass or around tree tops and it turns in to great top water baits

My lake regularly has only 6-8 inches of visibility. I have very little luck on flukes . They never eat top water either.Only way I can catch em is on moving baits with rattles ,or chatter baits, spinner baits or big swimsbaits..if I fish a drag bait it has to have rattles it seems..clear grass lakes have soo many options

A 7", white Googan Dart soft jerkbait on a 6-7/0 weightless screw-lock will go with me every time i hit the water...been my go 2 for the last 2 years...quite a few 4-7 lb bass, which are trophies in Ohio....not sure why exactly, but the 7" outperforms the standard 5" for me...many haters of Googan, but this bait has that "IT" factor in my experience

I've had real good luck tying my donkey-rig using a third fluke without a hook in it. In our area it's illegal to fish with more than two hooks on a lure of this type. I use one of those screw-lock thingys and simply secure the third fluke onto my topmost swivel. It makes it look like a small school of three baitfish with the two rear-most flukes being targeted by the bass. On rare occasions I've gotten two hits at a time but for some reason that second hit always seems to be able to spit the hook before I can reel it in.

Im confused move the hook forward,to keeps the bait down a bit.Move it back dances closer to surface.Yet if you use a 3/0 hook which will bring the hook forward you said will bring the bait closer to the surface.A 4/0 which will be back further on the bait you said causes the bait to sink.Sounds conflicting to me?
