Fun fact: The reason the song in-game glitched out at 2:27 was because, unlike most music, Winds of Fjords was being played as a native tracker file using the built in tracker player that Roblox had at the time (I believe it was finally removed from the engine around the mid-2010s, but had been deprecated long before that as tracker audios could only be uploaded by admins (and WoF is the only time they did!) and while it could use Base64-encoded audio, Base64 support was also removed in 2009 due to it being hard to moderate). The problem lied in the fact that this tracker wasn't perfect, and the 'slow tempo down by x%' instructions in the tracker file were not emulated properly causing it to slow too much, leading to the overextended note.

Imagine listening to this while standing outside on the patio where the wind is howling, the sky fills up with massive gray clouds, the smell of flames and ashes fill the air. Hi Soft Knees! As many people already have, I wanted to say thank you personally and on the behalf on many many others, for creating such a memorable track. Putting myself in your shoes (or trying to lol), I feel conflicted. On one hand Im truly grateful that roblox used your audio for the amazing memories it has given me and millions of others, but on the other hand I hate that you never got the recognition you deserved. Despite hearing this and instantly falling in love all the way back in 2011, only now am I finding out who actually made this masterpiece. And Im sure there are many others in the same boat. I just wish roblox displayed your name in the very least, its really unfortunate and although not my fault, I still feel the need to say sorry to you. You deserved and still deserve better from a massive company that roblox now is, they need to do a better job of supporting those who helped them become successful. Although you were treated unfairly, just remember that youve made a positive impact on millions of childhoods. Many people listen back to this and get nostalgia of a good childhood thanks to you, so thank you a million times over. Now that I know youre name finally, Ill be sure to look at your other works. And for all of us, how could you best be supported for your work by us? Thanks and best wishes for your future.

I have to ask. Back when you made this in 2001, did you ever expect it to take off as it did? I know it may sound like a stupid question, no one can predict their future. But this song...bearing nostalgia, is its own thing entirely. Its haunting at first. Like walking through a fog unsure of what lurks behind it. Yet as it goes on, a sense of vigour courses in, and now you're not just walking, but doing so in a stride of your own accord, assured that you'll take down whatever comes your way. Then in the middle, the fog clears up. You can now see where to go, what to do, and how to get there without stumbling. That clarity goes on until it hits the decline. And though you've gone through it, others will still have to endure it. Haunting whoever passes through next. What I'm trying to say here with this nonsense is just this: Thank you. For not only a great song, but for something that, whether or not you wished for, has became apart of many child and teenage hoods for years now. I wish you nothing but the best on your future endeavors, and thank you for revisiting such a pivotal piece in your long history.
@softknees2 жыл бұрын
No, I did not expect it to take off. It was just one of tens of tracker songs I made during those early years. Always interesting to hear what kind of story people hear while listening to songs. And as the game was loading via horrendously counting up to 4,000 then back down to 0 *(It takes anywhere from 2 minutes to 30 minutes)* , this music would play. DSS3 was the game that had first introduced me to this music, and ever since then, whenever I hear this music, I thought of that game. I was a bit younger then, so I suppose I had thought that the game devs had created the music. *(Much to my regret now.)* But now that I'm older, I have realized that you are the creator of the music that started my time on Roblox. I thank you for bringing me and many others, memories that will last for years to come. I hope you are doing well, and stay safe my friend.

Wow can’t believe this is the story behind Wind Of Fjords. I did grow up hearing it a lot from older zombie games in roblox. Or Area 51 games for a short period of time from 2012-16. Tragic to see someone’s work be uploaded without their terms and just hit the water works, but it ended like this with a better version and multiple people who can recognize it. Never have heard this version be so clean other than someone who tried to revise it a few years ago. I just randomly clicked on this video, seeing "roblox soundtrack" and was interested to see what it was. Little did I know I clicked on the build to survive zombies theme song, and oh my goodness, the memories unlocked, and nostalgia distributed by the click of a mouse is amazing. Thank you for making a childhood song for me, and millions of others around the world.

This is the most nostalgic song to me. Nothing compares. When I hear this song, I am teleported back to the early 2010s when I was a little kid playing Roblox. Thank you minomus for creating such a beautiful song that still touches me to this day. When I think of this song, I imagine the feeling of flying over skies. I imagined it so much that I actually listen to the song while taking off in a plane. What an experience. Thank you.

Dear Antti aka minomus, I just want to say thank you for creating Winds of Fjords, I appreciate that you took the time and effort to creating a beautiful 2000's beat that, always bring me nostalgia of me playing Roblox when, I was 8 yrs old and I still play it and now, I make Roblox Games as I'm 12 yrs old now. Today, I came from swimming at school and my ears were blocked because, of the water stuck in my ear and I was playing Winds of Fjords in the car and Guitar Lead was loud the point, my ear opened up and all the water came out and I was in joy when the water came out. I appreciate that Winds of Fjords was there for me even the hardest times, It's so strong that still brings me joy in my heart and soul and I hope a great day and happy life. from Ryan Gamer, a 12 yr old kid who loves Winds of Fjords.

@@GospodinSlav I've got to stop cringing at kids born in 2010 who find old roblox "nostalgic" given the fact that I did the same in 2018, although the old roblox I found nostalgic was 2013 roblox, and I actually started playing back then.

I created my account when I was 9 or 10 years old in early 2010, this song just brought back a wave of nostalgia. So nice to hear this song again man ROBLOX really was a very huge part of my childhood. I am 23 years old now. I still log in from time to time but it's not the same as it used to be... I remember this was the song of one of the very first roblox horror games I played back as a kid

Every time I listen to this, I always close my eyes, and this story pops in my head: Someone is climbing up a mountain. The path is long, tedious, and treacherous, and in a blizzard to top it off. They don't care though. They push ahead, they have too. Their reason is relatively unknown. Although, maybe it is to prove themselves. But if so, then to who? Their townspeople? Grandfather? Themselves? Nonetheless, they march on. Through thick snow and grueling terrain, they march on, for what seems to be an eternity. Atleast, until... 1:54 . The sky suddenly clears up, as they finally, FINALLY, reach the summit. The sky becomes clear as day. The view of the world stretches for miles upon miles. They've done it. This impossible behemoth of a challenge, turned possible. The unclimbable, turned climbable. The climber's eyes start to water, as they get on their knees and scream "YES! YES!" They don't just feel ecstatic, they feel *utterly euphoric.* And to add to the situation's finality, the climber plants a flag at the very peak of the mountain, forever cementing their accomplishment. However, as quickly as it came, this moment of pure bliss faded away mere moments after planting the flag. For the climber now acknowledged that this was merely the halfway point. The clouds once again form as they begin their march back down... I love this track, its an absolute masterpiece, and 1:54 always gets me to tear up a little.

I can't... No song has ever made me cry by just turning it on first time in the row. The beatdrop has something that makes me fight over not crying. Tears appear in my eyes when i even think about the song, it bring backs so many memories! Even when i don't think about anything but just hear it, it instantly makes me feel sad, it feels like its literally attached to those memories, good old times...
