If you've been asked to soft wash a roof that has had its brick painted white within the last two weeks. I'm planning on covering the brick with a 8 mil waterproof covering, but are there other suggestions other than informing the customer that if run off hits the brick, it might need to be repainted? I know we should wait for it to cure first which I think is around 30 days. Btw- I am looking at buying your training

Do you have any advice about doing a bleach roof wash on a house with close neighbours? I did a wash and the neighbours from 2 houses down were worried about their plants. 2 questions; What are the chances of the spray traveling that far and actually causing harm to flowers/plants etc? And How can I handle that better next time? Thanks a lot!

Doug i need a resource or advice. I was told by a roofer that after soft washing a cedar roof needs to ve sealed. I was under the impression that the cedar is resistant to rot and needs to breath. What's the industry standard for sealing a cedar shake roof? Anyone?

Yes IMO cedar roofs should be cleaned very 3-5 years, and sealed as needed, depending on the sealer used. Good quality sealers will last longer than cheap watered down sealers at box stores. Here is a great resource for wood education. www.wizardofwood.net

Definitely have to be careful and protect everything. Propert protection is 1) knowing where the bleach is going 2) knowing what it can do when it gets there 3) PROTECT THERE

Do you re use your tyvek? Also how do you combat the wind blowing the tyvek off of the plants? Clamps?

Yes we rinse them and reuse and we use spring clamps.

No I don’t but pretty easy. I just shut the bleach valve off and rinse the pump out with water. I’m not concerned with rinsing or flushing the valves out

I have heard you can wet the plants down reall good and they will be fine. Is this false information?

Yes it is. Wetting them and keeping them wet will certainly help but doing alone that will not prevent damage.
