Softball How to Field Fly Balls with Mike Candrea

Mike Candrea's series of instructional videos are fantastic. I played baseball through college and have a daughter playing tournament softball now. I've heard often how softball and baseball are so different and should be taught accordingly. However, in reality about 98% of the fundamentals of baseball apply to the fundamentals of softball. The game of softball is faster of course, and player positioning and play calling are a bit varied as a result, but fielding a ground ball, a fly ball or a shorthop, and making a strong, accurate throw to your target requires the exact same technique whether it's a softball, a baseball or a beach ball. If you want to be a serious player at a competitive level, the skills Mike and the women of Team USA display are exactly the core fundamentals that you have to master. These videos are the equivalent of learning to count to 10 before you can learn to count to 20. Great job Mike, Amanda and the rest of Team USA!

you just need to practice, watching videos is good, this video series is really great, but nothing beats catching 100 pop ups. you should not be getting hit by the ball that much.

She’s amazing. She can catch and throw with either hand. If the ball is to her right she puts the glove on her left hand and if the ball is to her left, her glove is on her right hand. Incredible

Fly balls over your head, I was taught to make adjustments with my back to the infield. Coach alway said that he didn’t want to see our front side when you adjust from one side to the next. That way you do not break stride going back!

I’m here bc I was rlly good at fielding fly balls, but then I have had an entire bad week. All the ball are landing in front of me, or just drop out of my glove in front of me, and I’m having a bad reaction. Anyone have any tips?

Really we always want confident to catch the fly and by catching a fly ball we always we ready and we have to understand the balling line
