Amanda, these videos are helping me the more i watch them. I was always a backup and i hated it, one game we did a inning for "fun" and my coach let me pitch, she said i did so good and lets me pitch in the games Now, thanks to you .

can you make a video of drills on how to work on your accuracy
@juanvante6 жыл бұрын
There are accuracy drills, but ultimately improving accuracy is built on working on your mechanics and understanding when to properly release. There is no drill or no coach in the world that can specifically teach you how to throw strikes. If that blueprint existed, that coach would be the highest paid coach in that sport. Every team would want them on their staff. Work on your fundamentals, learn your body, learn the proper release point and practice it over and over and over.

I have the spots down, but my coach tells me to throw with more speed. So if you can make a video about that I would be very happy, this helped a lot!
@emerymills23767 жыл бұрын
Kelsey Odonnell you will need to keep your weight back and speed your arm up. Use your legs too
@juanvante6 жыл бұрын
your coach probably means that your change should be the same motion and intensity as the fastball. So listen to the coach.

Amanda, a really simple drill is "underhand pitch and catch", where you throw (not pitch) underhand to someone. There are many, many kids who have never done it. It is a great way to warm up as well. Could you possible be able to demonstrate? Also, people are always asking for a pre-game "warm up" routine.
@juanvante6 жыл бұрын
Great point Ray, I am in no way an expert at pitching underhand but I have used the underhand method of throwing for warmups and confidence. It took my daughters to another level in pitching. Still far from where they need to be, but that is mainly because they don't see the correlation between throwing underhand and pitching. I am still working it.

I have problems with keeping my whole pitch like actually accurate... Like I'll throw 4 or 5 strikes in a row and then I'll just randomly change and I'll start throwing high balls... I don't know what changes.
@juanvante6 жыл бұрын
Your release point change and probably your mechanics.
@carlygrace52375 жыл бұрын
Same! There have been times where I would strike two people out in a row then I end up pitching to the left. For me I think it might just be in my head.

I'm a good pitcher but I just had a bad game yesterday and today when I pitched against my team I was nervous so I didn't do good could you give me a tip, please answer.
@stephanieg85459 жыл бұрын
+Brianna Shaw Although I am not Amanda Scarborough, I will try to help you as best I can. I am a pitcher myself and and I can assure you that everyone has bad days where they just don't play as they usually do and that's okay. It's something that happens to everyone, not just pitchers. You just have to shake the bad games off and keep practicing. A bad game here and there does not make you a bad pitcher, you just have to walk off the field with a smile on your face knowing you did the best you could. As for being nervous, there are many different reasons why you could be feeling nervous whether it be because everyone is watching you or you feel like you are going to/ doing bad or just the fact that you feel all of the pressure is on you, you can't let anything get in your head. The only thing you should be thinking about is the next pitch/play and the only thing you should focus on is the catcher's mitt. You have to be confident in yourself because even if you did not pitch the greatest, it's just a game and it just gives you a reason to work even harder at becoming a better player.

+Stephanie Graebner Thx I really appreciate since it was 6 months ago I'm doing great now! I'm the main pitcher for the 12u Phenoms and I'm a lot more confident now more than ever. Thx so, so much for the encouragement now I'll have something to look at when I'm nervous before a tournament :D. You've also taught me something. Even when I'm having a bad day can't let it get to me and I have to smile and keep working hard. hopefully we can talk again soon :D.

Could anybody help me? What's the trick of this ball? I mean, does it goes up and then down? Or, does go fast and then gets a little slower? I still don't get it after seeing this video twice...
@stephanieg85459 жыл бұрын
+bloodyhetza I assume you are talking about the change up. Change ups are meant to look like you're going to throw a fast ball but then it turns out to be a slower pitch. It throws off the batter because they are expecting a fast ball and it ends up being a slower pitch so they usually swing way in front of it.
@allysonkerns8 жыл бұрын
The ball is slower than your fastball, and also has a downward movement, increasing the chance of the batter missing the ball.
@juanvante6 жыл бұрын
There are different variations of a good change-up. Ideally it should be a slower version of the fastball, if it drops even better. But the pitcher should know if its dropping and why.

ACCURACY IS #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5. Then Fastball/changeup
@juanvante6 жыл бұрын
Arguable, a girl throwing 45 at college will get creamed regardless of her accuracy. Therefore every facet of pitching matters. I'm guessing you are still stuck on swinging down and squashing the bug.
@IceCream-ey2kg3 жыл бұрын
@@juanvante I'm guessing they mean you should work on your accuracy before moving on to other stuff. Which I kinda disagree with but it's a valid opinion
@CALVINLNIKONT4 жыл бұрын
Movement on the ball is most important. You can easily make a mistake in location but if the ball has a lot of movement, it will still be almost impossible to hit. Why in the world would you throw a drop up and in to any hitter? You throw a rise up where it has the most movement and a drop low where it has the most movement. I pitched over 4,000 games in my fastpitch career. calnikont.com/extrastuff/calssoftballstuff.html

Umm yea I’m not reading your huge story on that link too long. But accuracy is the most important cause if you don’t have accuracy there is no way to strike anyone out or let them hit that ball (my opinion)

@juanvante6 жыл бұрын
Wrong, she is a professional probably throwing at 50% and demonstrating change ups as well. No need for a mask. If you cant catch at any level, you shouldn't be playing. There is a time and place for wearing a mask. New girls: mask, Corner infielders: mask, Pitcher: mask at any level (arguable topic). Catching for any age, aside from this professional demo: mask
