Unless I am mistaken one Hugh’s advantage of stacker over softr is the ability to create new records in the app. Softr can do this via forms but it removes the ability to enter linked records in the form (for example to create a record in a junction table) or can use airtable forms but this is a really poor UX. Still use cases that either is ideal for and nether have built a fully interactive portal experience. It will come I am sure.

As a person who used both, here’s my opinion: stacker is good but I wanted filtering capabilities (like Airtable itself) and that’s not available on Stacker. Softr is also good but the inability to see linked records is a deal breaker to me. There’s a workaround but I think it should be built in.

Hey Motlaq, we do support linked records at the moment, e.g. you can link employees on your company profile page. Let us know is there is any improvements around it you would suggest.

Airtable has a lot to do yet In its own environment before even considering making a UX builder (as of today linked records can't be autofilled according to certain conditions for instance, and there are a lot of improvements that can be made to its automations feature).

Hi Gareth! Is there a way for an Airtable form (new record entry) to prepopulate 'email' field by getting the Logged-in user Email in Softr, or other fields like Account number? Would be nice for a verified user from Softr login to not have to input again or verify again that it is really them who own the account.

Hi Julia, yes you can. You could use a hidden field in our Softr forms, and send the currently logged in user's email or recordId back to Airtable, with the following format - {LOGGED_IN_USER:AT_RECORD_ID}. Hi Julie, as Mariam said, you can include the logged in user's email, but you'll want to use a Softr form, not an Airtable form. Softr support docs are a great place to start and we also demonstrated this in a previous video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iovEkqOQr52Hhtk (head to minute 7:00 to see the user info in the form)

Hi Lee, yes user roles are available for viewing and creating records at the moment. In 3 weeks with our new updates, you can also define custom roles with granular permissions, for updating the airtable records.

Hello Gareth...wondering if most of my data is in GSheets...can't I just use Zapier/Integromat into Airtable and then from there...go to Softr? If Softr allows ability to edit an existing airtable record (you said coming soon) within my portal with full edit capabilities...then, I would say Softr it is. I'm in process of needing new website and need to use airtable where individual users have own login. By the way...dashboards...does Softr allow to show analytics/dashboards? I run a b2b lead gen agency...need to pipe in analytics from airtable and client needs to see a nice looking analytics/dashboard. Thoughts? Thx

Hey Adam, you can definitely automate data from GSheets into Airtable, or you can eliminate GSheets entirely and just start with Airtable (depending on your workflow). Softr is bringing the edit ability very soon, so yes Softr's functionality is going to skyrocket in the coming weeks! RE: dashboards, per Mariam's comment here, embedding dashboards from 3rd party services works great. Maybe one day soon Softr will also permit some dashboard creation in their tool! 🤞

Linked records will come soon :) we tried to avoid copying entire data to our system just for enabling it. But soon we will be able as Airtable improved APIs
