@ 2:53 "...remarkably resplendant..." Your narrative skills are what make these videos stand out above others. I wish I had that ability, but sadly, most of us will have to settle for "Look! A squirrel!" as the highlight of our videos. Whenever you are in the area, Birch Creek Ranch is always a good place to visit.

16:10 its most likely a wind protection for bigger tents: If the wind is blowing hard, the wind wont be blowing right in between the inner and outer tent. Had the same in Iceland at several spots, we even shoveled some snow into the gaps so the wind had no chance of blowing through and to prevent boulders from hitting us. Thats why it is so low, and thats why it is not needed at the side with the wall, there wont be any wind from that side. So jealous of that trip, gosh the views. Really well captured!

That old ranch and cliffs around it…. Might be one of the most beautiful things I’ve see . I’d love to go back in time and see it running 100 years ago. Love that you are doing some cooking on the fire. I used to do more of that. I’d like too more in the future.

I remember when the area you camped at was an alfalfa field. Slept out under the stars right in the middle with deer and coyotes hanging out around the edges. Fishing there is awesome! I've caught tons of small mouth, a few catfish and several trout.

Love this! I once worked at the Ft. McDermitt tribe, a reservation on the Oregon/Nevada border. I was told by one of the natives that years ago they use to drive cattle out to the Owyhee Canyon on horseback and the trail was difficult to find from the backcountry. I so love you sharing the scenery and the adventure. As far as I ever got was Leslie's Gulch, the Pillars of Rome. Remote, beautiful landscape.... Thanks for filming and sharing! Great to see the dry laid stone walls. That wall was build with stones from the river. You can always tell river rocks from traditional stone, they always have soft rounded faces from water. Almost as if polished. Do you know the differences from a rock and a stone? A rock is an unemployed stone. So a rock would be something which has never been touched by man, nore has a job. So now we can call those walls river stones. 🙂 Great trip - Thank you for taking the time to create content. Mark (& Teresa) Out Of Office Camping

Only PITA about cooking over an open fire is the soot on the bottom of the pan. If you have hot water you can wash it off. If you are dry camping, it makes storing the pan for transport a messy preposition.

What a magical place you have access to on a whim.Living on the east coast in S.C.we have very limited boondocks options. Most camping locations are paid sites in Corp of engineer or state parks. Its not the same as being out west.We made a trip last June for my first road trip out west and it didn't disappoint other than we blew our suv engine 3 weeks into a month long trip.We got stranded in Colorado for a week before we coukd rent a car and get back to S.C.while we waited months for a new engine

Growing up in the south, okra was about as common as potatoes. My mom fried them both for us, often. The okra was always prepped in flour and cornmeal. It's also quite good using only cumin, I've found. As I recall from my all-to-brief (10 yrs) living in OR, okra was an "exotic" vegetable, with the accompanying high cost. The scenery all along that road would've made it very difficult for me to drive it safely - to really enjoy (and photograph) such things, I have to walk it. I need 4wd badly.

At the 16 minute mark, that may well have been an old corral. Its not unusual to use cliff faces on one side, and a low stone wall on another. Cows dont step over things, so a low fence works fine.
