Great advice and great video! The way I got over burnout was to just focus on one thing at a time. I was doing way too much. Prioritizing my health over what I needed to do every week really helped a lot.

Yeah I think prioritizing yourself (mental and physical well-being) is the most important when you’re feeling burned out. A lot of stress comes from arbitrary deadlines we set for ourselves.

don't get it wrong, you're doing a surface level analysis of the topic, which just on the individual, still good advices How to fix it long term? By contributing to change the culture of the industry that keep squeezing the devs more and more, pushed by non-techies that got hired by their own buddies from the same management schools where they didn't knew shit about the industry and changed the culture of what used to be good companies, the same people will cut everything for more profits while not investing in devs for climb the career ladder or they will expect your to become like them to reach new levels of mediocrity. I could go on and on, there are more and more software devs complaining about that group of people that used nepotism in the tech industry to take leadership roles they don't deserve.

The thing about being inside ... That's most knowledge work. It's not something for software folks. Also, your choice to work after hours at your desk and just play video games instead of getting outside or in the gym is your choice. It's causing you problems... But you still stay put?
