Ruben Palomares, a former officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, played a central role in the Rampart Scandal, one of the most notorious corruption cases in the department’s history. He was involved in a range of illegal activities, including planting evidence, stealing drugs, and framing innocent individuals. His actions, along with those of other officers, prompted a massive investigation that exposed widespread corruption within the LAPD. Palomares eventually pleaded guilty to federal charges and served time in prison, leaving behind a legacy of misconduct that highlighted the need for greater accountability and reform in law enforcement.

I've lost mom, dad & sister, but my dad was abusive & I can relate to what you said. What helped me was learning a small fraction of his childhood. I suddenly realized he couldn't give what he wasn't shown. He is culpable, but understanding the why has changed everything for me. I felt pity for him instead of resentment. He died alone & riddled with guilt. I'd very much love the opportunity to get to know him now, as an adult who's also working through her shit.
