My hard rest is coming right now at 50 years old with three little girls and a beautiful wife, I have a very successful business yet sabotage myself with alcohol every night. It stopped tonight. No more. I’m going to be free, and I will live to my potential and stop stacking karmic debt. I’ve followed this dude from day one on you tube but never knew the full story. This was a moving powerful interview. Thanks for your story. 3 weeks later: thank you everyone for all the comments and support. It’s good to know that there are such wonderful people out there that share their own experience and wisdom. I am doing leaps and bounds better, but I CAN and WILL do more. Thank you all again, god bless each and every one of you….

Good luck to you. Don’t give up. Just remember quitting is about telling yourself “I CAN have this, but I don’t need it. Or I CAN have this, but I don’t want it”. When you tell yourself “I CANT have this” it sends messages to our brain that we need it… The addiction plays tricks on our minds. When you realize that you can start to take control of your life.

Consider a possibly untreated anxiety disorder which I had... I literally couldn't quit alcohol and was almost dead at 35... Doc said I had a couple months to go if I kept it up after my 3rd hospitalization and IV drip... Anxiety medication allowed me to finally quit abusing it so bad and I can actually drink responsibly now. Have a couple beers and go home and go to bed.... Lifechanging meds helped me survive it.

@knockharder3554 He went through BUDS before any of his training. Buds isn't designed to make you succeed. It's literally designed to make the human brain and body quit. It's sole purpose is to find the few men who simply won't quit and send those to training. Either way, you're correct in saying he fully understands the power in just not quitting, but very, very few of us genuinely understand that, even when we think we do. When it comes to the suck, we're generally wired to only put up with so much. These Tier 1 and 2 guys are simply wired differently. That's literally what sets them apart from the rest of us. I used to think they were all built like Gi.I. Joe's, and Taylor actually is, but the majority of Seal and Delta guys are just normal dudes, they just possess an insane ability to embrace the suck and still be able to remain calm and collected. The one thing they generally all have in common is above average intelligence. I really enjoy listening to them on podcasts because they are all extremely intelligent and capable human beings. They just chose to deal death as a profession, but they were going to be the best of their field no matter what they chose to do. Their training 100% helps, but these dudes are special before they ever signed the dotted lines. Regardless, we could all learn a ton from them, but only hope to obtain a fraction of their successes. We're just fortunate they fight for our teams.

This is the interview that has spoken to me and really resonated. God reached out to him so many times and he didn’t take it very seriously. It’s a work in process and Tyler, I’ve heard your name in other interviews. You got this. It’s not easy. At the point it gets uncomfortable, you know you’re moving. Choose your direction. Yeah. Taylor's story really blindsided me - I’m not the type to get drawn into military narratives, but this... this was different. His journey isn’t about the armor we see; it’s about the battles fought in the silence of his own mind. Hearing him lay bare his struggles, the ones far removed from the battlefield yet equally daunting, was a raw, poignant reminder of the true nature of courage. It’s easy to stand against a visible enemy, but facing the shadows within requires a different kind of valor. Deep respect for Taylor sharing his heartaches and triumphs. This conversation isn’t just a story; it’s a beacon for anyone wrestling with their inner turmoil. Taylor, you’re not just surviving; you’re illuminating paths for others in the darkest of places. Your bravery is a silent anthem for the unsung battles we all face.

Hi, I’m a woman in her 20s and I’m training to become a U.S. Navy SEAL. What advice would you give for women that want to be SEALs? If you had to go to BUD/S again, how would you prepare differently? What books or workout programs would you recommend? Most female SEAL candidates struggle with carrying the boats and logs, doing pull ups, having grip strength and completing the “Dirty Name” on the obstacle course. Also, a lot of female SEAL candidates break their legs or develop stress fractures. A woman made it to day 4 of BUD/S first phase recently but she quit on day 4. That’s the farthest a woman has made it. Her BUD/S classmates told me that her class hated her and ran her out from under the boat because she was a boat ducker. Nine women have entered the SEAL pipeline since 2016.

He has zero mental hiccups in between his brain and his voice. How rare is that today? Granted, he will make some pauses to regather his thoughts, but his flow of speech is so powerful compared to every other random person who are so hard to listen to. It helps make him interesting. It is a lost art. Fascinating. Great story.

@@Anonymous18817 I'm not a SEAL but I am in the military and I have met guys who've made it through various special operations pipelines. I also have a sister who went to West Point, so I understand the troubles that women in the military go through. My advice for you would be to train for an Ironman. A lot of people neglect endurance training in favor of lifting weights, but 90% of what a warrior does in combat and in training is endurance related. Also, if you can complete an Ironman with a decent time, you must be pretty tough, which is probably the most important thing for special operations. Also, there are workout programs designed for those looking to enter special operations. I've good things about the 18A fitness program. There's not a whole lot you can do to prevent bone fractures or breaks. For the most part, your skeleton is what it is. My sister has dealt with various injuries throughout her time in the Army, it's really just a bridge you cross when you get there. I hope this was helpful and good luck. Even if you don't make it, any woman with the balls to attempt to become a SEAL has my respect. God bless.

Then when it came time for him to evacuate he told them no. They told him that he was surrounded and needed to get out. He responded "I've got them right where I want them. He's still reliant on the way other people see him, whether he realizes it or not. He's setting himself up to crash and burn yet again. He'll have a number of awakenings and realizations as the years go by. If he makes it to 60-65 years old, he'll probably really find what he's looking for at that point. But he's gotta slow down and stop moving at 100mph all the time. Each step of the process, he gets better and better, but he's still not even close to being where he wants to be at this time. I had that same mentality then I got locked up stepped on the nurses scale and it said 130lbs, I said is this broken? No, have you looked in the mirror lately. I set out at that moment to become the most yoked former dope fiend. Working out and taking pride in my health changed my life. Lifting weights gave me that confidence I lacked, discipline, dedication and determination to become a better human being. Taking responsibility and holding yourself accountable helped me become the man and father I am today.

I did a few months in county jail then 2 rehabs and was out on 5 years supervised probation. I was lucky and the judge gave me a chance and i took advantage of it.

This guy reminds me of something former SEAL/present KZbinr MrBallen said about guys going through SEAL training. That the ones who’ve phucked up and underachieved in other areas of their lives tend to do well. Because they have nothing left to lose and have decided to commit themselves to this. Versus guys who came in as star athletes and highly accomplished people and may not want it so badly.

I saw this video a while back and have thought about Taylor many times since then. He has so much intensity and he is clearly an intelligent and insightful guy. He is articulate and has a lot of life experience. All that revved up self-flagellation and self-sabotage over the years, however, doesn’t just go away. Some of the things he went through sound like manic episodes followed by crashes into depression. Throughout this interview his speech is pressured and non-stop. His over confidence all or nothing thinking is over the top to me, although it is so appealing and his charisma really draws you in. I worry that Taylor might have untreated bipolar disorder. I hope I’m wrong. I’m a licensed psychotherapist but could not accurately diagnose someone without doing a proper assessment. Wishing him all good things.

Hey Taylor…what an awesome pep talk! My high school boyfriend is now a retired Navy SEAL Chief. My husband, Charlie, was an ex-Marine who was stationed at Pendleton and Miramar. Charlie’s cousin Ronnie, who was more like his brother, was a Marine as well. He was a sniper too. I’ve always been surrounded by you crazy as all hell bad asses. Lol 😂 We lost Ronnie in 2016, and Charlie died from cancer at 50 in 2022. I’m lost without them both sometimes. One of the things that Ronnie did best was giving the most hard hitting pep talks when you needed to hear them the most. After listening to you speak, it reminded me so much of him. I know they would be proud of you and your journey. Thank YOU!! Stay strong as I’m trying to do the same in this crazy world without my Charlie. Much love, @tcavofficial ! New sub of yours. The way Taylor powered through and stayed focused on what he wanted is highly commendable, but he left chaos in his wake and everyone seems to ignore that fact. Whether he is ACOA or ADHD and even if you detest putting labels on people there is definitely something happening in Taylor that continues to cause him to resort to alcohol and self sabotage over and over. Therapy is an option. I wish him continued success in his new career as he can definitely support others using his experience. Just hope he doesn’t neglect his own mental health in the process.

TC proves that (any) one - if willing to conquer and validate himself - can beat anything and survive everything. At 69, alone n' humbled, having broken my pencils and my motorcycles sold - the only Gate through old-age depression is my meditation cushion. And guess what? In those cold, dark and immovable hours of zazen, the smiling face of TC comes and enightens me with his coarse courage, gut-deep inhalations and blissful belief in the majestic but frail happiness of Life. I’m so grateful for this channel. Without hesitation I always click on the videos each time there’s an upload. It has opened my eyes to a whole new world and my mind has never been more opened and accepting. I feel so much more now for people realizing everyone has their own story. Never judge a book by its cover. Thank you mark.

GLOSTA.. to be honest this gentleman said 13 things that stuck with me and resonated. Things I needed to hear, I’m 41 years old and wasted the best years of my life. I’m smart and charismatic, I can still do something and so can you. “The decisions you make matter”

Dont think anything is wasted...there wwre lessons to be learned. Some people have DIFFERENT lessons to learn but do t think anyone has a perfect life. It may LOOK so on the outside but we all have lessons. And life and possibility isnt over til it's over.

I pray for you Taylor. I am an ex sailor, ex Seal candidate (back then you got one chance and I was close but not there), Vietnam era, General Discharge guy - questioned everything and everyone - Captains Masts regularly but loved and respected my Captain and it was mutual. Constantly reevaluating myself after my stint in the Navy. Always at the top of any project I took on - very successful in personal life, but continually questioning my contribution. So many similarities in your life to mine. Being a lot older I know how that path unfolds if you can get right, and how bad it can go till you do. Just hope that your current life decisions hold true and you find the real road to continual improvement, continual stability, and continual success. God bless you brother.

Mr. Cavanaugh, I mean this in the most supportive way, you are a force to be reckoned with. It takes a special human to be a SEAL and French Foreign Legionnaire. And your aggression works well for you. But being an average civilian, I had to watch this in two separate sittings. I appreciate your transparency with your history so that we can learn from it. I also appreciate what you have sacrificed for this country and it's population. Prayers for continued peace and prosperity to you.
