Being a military brat tends to create polar extremes in social skills. I grew up on bases around the world, having to create a new set of friends every couple of years and always being the new kid in class. In my case, it helped developed the skills to easily adapt to new situations and new people. It has given me both comfort and a desire to seek out the new and the different. On the other hand, I have seen the opposite effect in other people. They have both a lifetime search for stability and a tendency to sabotage it before they obtain it. I don't know why some thrive and some don't.

Childhood trauma they don't remember, or just too much confusion when mothers change a few boyfriends, or husbands who are willing to kill for no good reason (in my opinon) when ordered to do it. We had such families when Yugoslavia fell apart, their children were often a lot more damaged than our usual drug user.

Those who have contributed have a right to say "enough ", "I'm out" it's time for tough love". He obviously doesn't want help, he just wants the money for drugs. People who donated wanted to help him get help,not support his drug habit. Mark said one thing and then caved and did another. That's fine for Mark. He wants to support him no matter what it seems. Fine. He can afford to do that with his own money. I'd rather donate to the ones who truly want the help but just don't have the means to do it for themselves. There's nothing wrong with wanting your donation to be spent wisely and not thrown away for his next high.

@minigirl68394 ай бұрын
So true what you said. It is easier to get off Crack than Fentanyl. And we all have to decide for ourselves when and how we are going to do it. Nobody can do it for us. We have to train ourselves to focus on other activities, as you stated, filling the time. She needs to make better bad decisions or start making good ones. I've watched some interviews where the person would go from hard core drug use, to going cold turkey and then switching to intense body building as a way to keep busy and stay clean. They trade one obsession for another, but at least they got clean. I just hope she wants help and can get it if she's serious about wanting to stop.

Sometimes just the knowledge of your mother's lifestyle can deal a life shattering blow. May they be able to overcome this if they are affected this way. I wish the best to Lesley. I cannot determine from the interview what in her life put her on such a self-destructive course. One recent interviewee said something like ' you can't pull yourself up by your boot straps when you don't even have boots.' The frustration is that when these people have 'boots' (good jobs or relationships), they throw them away. Makes me realize, life is a slippery ledge where you can suddenly lose your footing. Actually, you can never let go. Always stay in control, responsible. And then, you still can fall - or just be put in a poor 'nest.' Again, my best to her children.

People are arguing in the comments on whether she’s a good person or not. The point is: she’s just a person. Even with her addiction and her choices, she’s just a person. She’s human. All humans are fallible. We are all capable of good and bad. Stop arguing and just listen.

I am just 3 years older than her and have been clean 5 and a half years off crack. I pray she finds a way out of this life she is living.
