Got this one this morning. I had their Paratool for 30 years and it was MEH at best. I also have the Leatherman Surge and it made the Paratool feel like a toy. The fit and finish on the SOG PowerAccess Deluxe is ok. You can see the casting marks and thr file has rough and crude maching to make the file. The pliers are ok. I like the replaceable wite cutting blades on the Surge better. The locking mechanism is much better on the Surge. The screwdriver blades are duplicated by the bit kit. sog Coukd have deleted the redundant screwdriver tools and replaced them with a pair of scissors. Or a bit kit driver extension. Or something not duplicated. The knives are much smaller than on the Surge. It can stay in my trucks glove box with my old Paratool. I'll keep the Surge in the house.

Between the SOG and Leatherman Free I would say the Free. Good sized knife and better quality than the SOG… it’s more expensive, but is worth it

I wish Multi-tool systems started to offer standard lengths and interchangeable parts. I'd rather be buying the tool bits from companies like Milwaukee (like actual tool makers) than from the people making the handles and core parts. Can you do a video on interchangeable and interoperable multi-tool systems?
@inkiron39073 жыл бұрын
You’re preaching to the choir about modular multi-tool design! I hope the upcoming GOAT tool will be a success and force other companies to compete with their design. I could do comparative videos but I think diezelle has done a lot of good videos about that already 😅
@adorkable813 жыл бұрын
Why would they do that? This is their niche, and they have their own parts. Why would they make it so you can go out and buy parts from other brand?
@Greendogo3 жыл бұрын
@@adorkable81 Someone will do it, and the first company that does it will have companies that make accessories and eventually replacement blades. Then replacement handles. Then you have multiple companies operating around the same set of standardized pieces. Customers profit.

Where they messed up was making it in china. Had this been made in their Taiwan or USA factories using good materials, it would have been an absolute win. It has all the tools I would want in a multitool but I'd have to keep a backup handy at all times because I know the cheap 5cr15mov they claim it's made of (more likely 3cr because china always lies about materials used) will inevitably fail when I need the tool most

Its a phillips 1 at most. A phillips 2 has a noticeable flat spot at the tip. Tested all three can openers out, they all work fine for opening cans, no way you got 3 duds. The flat head on the end of the can opener is actually a 2 dimensional phillips. You use the pliers to remove the bits from the bit holder, it is better than having the bits fall out and lose them- this is not a fit and finish issue. The sheath is incredible and matches the leatherman molle sheath that you have to purchase separately (for about the same money as the sheath, bit kit and tool combined from SOG). Your lack of industry knowledge is surpassed only by your lack of respect for your fellow man. Your attitude borders on disorderly conduct.

The SOG is a really disappointing design fail ! Their top of the line has a utterly crap 🔪 knife, the awl hole is so big it's a structural flaw and it's got fit & finish that makes Gerber look like Victorinox ! They used to be fantastic 20yrs ago when they were made in the U.S., what a shame...
