This is the Lotus Sutra (Myoho Renge Kyo) Chapter 25 of the Lotus Sutra, Universal Door chapter . It is kinda fitting, because there it is taught that Kanzeon manifests himelfs as whatever form that will aid sentiente beings. Even demons or soldiers, such as the Sohei.

There is a reason for which, almost all the famous undefeated warriors of Japan have to do with Buddhism. Honorable mentions ( my personal top3): 1 Myamoto Musashi 2. Tadakatsu Honda 3. Benkei

Akechi mistuhide was also a buddhist. He was famous for his betrayal of oda nobunaga.

I am siding with Takeda Shingen who once defeated Tokugawa and Tadakatsu Then most of his 24 general especially Baba Nobuharu and Masakage Yamagata. Yamamoto Kansuke for his strategy knowledge I will pick up Uesugi Kenshin as one of the most smart commander of the Sengoku era and also Sanada Yukimura as a great tactician. There are many more commander. Musashi included as a samurai monk philosopher and his perseverance

This is just a romanticized version of the the established history of the 'warrior' monks. Sorry to break this down but the term 'sohei' was not used until the latter half of the 18th century to describe a 'group' of defenders in the monastic complexes, most of whom were not monks but rather secular warriors or retainers ordinated by the monks not acknowledged by the state. Some theorize that these warriors were ordinary citizens keen to take up arms for two reasons- 1. to avoid taxes(monasteries and monks or those working there were exempt) and 2. to escape imperial persecution which became increasingly common in the that period that resulted in the imperial decline which induced most commoners to look towards the monasteries for justful treatment and a way to defend themselves. Others theorize that the 'sohei' were nobles who used their contacts in the imperial court, to penetrate the monastic offices, to gain influence and financial incentives, and by doing so, they brought their own struggles and feuds into the monasteries, resulting in arming of these religious institutions. So, really, there was no such class as a 'warrior' 'monk'.
