SoHo to Chinatown With the Sigma FP - Photo/ RAW Video Walk

Since I hate FPV street photography videos, I'm going to do things a little differently. I know this style of creating can be a little jarring. But I feel that this is the best way to show the how the outing unfolds, and to also get a practical feel of the gear being used.
The RAW video was graded in Resolve, and the full vid was finished in FCPX.
All images are edited in Adobe Lightroom.

Hey thanks! I'm pretty sure it was one of your videos about the FP, and the firmware update with false color and stuff that finally got me to buy it. I scored it for such a great deal right before it saw a mini popularity bump once people started giving it a real try as a video beast. It's one of the most underrated cameras of all time.

Agreed. And it got even better with the recent update. The inclusion of false color makes exposure a total breeze, and it also works for stills. I get great RAW files with the best possible level of sensor saturation without much left to guesswork. It is so much more "pro" than almost everything else. And I forgot to add that that sensor is very future-proof for the (at least the next 5 years) since it more than covers REC2020 without issue.

It's better than my Leica. The colors and RAW files beat pretty much everyone else. Sigma is so underrated.

Thank you. Lovely images and colouring. I love this camera too. One thing hardly mentioned is how phenomenal the ISO performance is even in very low light. So for anyone worrying about no IBIS, you crank up the ISO along with the shutter speed and it’s a win every time. I believe there is electronic stabilization as well. No, not for sports, but definitely not lacking for every day and even street.

Yes. The RAW files have so much info to work with. The ISO performance is so much better that the competition.

Agreed with the ibis wobble. Ruins everything. Sony actually do a good job limiting how much they use. Panasonic on the other hand has gone all in and therefore you are limited to certain lenses

Does the FP have any kind of manual focus assist? Looking to use some manual lenses to make it smaller

Yes, and it is very usable. It has good ol' focus peaking, and you can choose the outline color. I find that it is more accurate than, say Fuji's implementation of peaking.

I love how you half press to autofocus, then while still half pressed start turning the manual focus ring and the viewfinder immediately goes to magnified mode so you can fine adjust. wait 2 secs and the scene goes back to normal mode. then you depress the shutter. maybe other cameras do this but I have not used them so it’s new for me. best of AF and MF.

very excited for you. one thing I forgot to mention, there is definitely some form of resizing going on. it's a 25mp sensor and there's no noticeable crop to shoot 4k, so there is some downscaling of the raw data coming off that sensor. I need to explore this more...

@@oh_aces cN u control camera profile looks in cinema dng mode? Contrast, sharpness etc.. or is that just set?

I just bought the camera and got it a few days ago. How does one activate full time focus in cine mode? Or will i have to keep pressing the focus button everytime i move from scene to scene

I think it's in the menu. I never use the continuous AF because it is pretty unreliable on this camera. You might also be able to assign a button to turn it on and off.

i was thinking of buying this camera , but Data rate is ridicoulous for me , is there are way to reduce Data rate to about 100Mbits or around , that is all i need , even more then i need , im fine with 50Mbits .

I would say then you should look for something else. It has internal 10 bit 4K video with LongGOP compression but that might still be too high for what you're asking about. Remember that lower data rates usually mean 8 bit color as well. I would say go for an older Sony body, that way you'll get IBIS and you can shoot in much lower data rates. This camera is at its best with RAW video and is one of the best stills cameras around, just not for sports or action photos. ...of course with it being as cheap as it is, you could buy it just for stills and get a second video camera, an older model with 100mbps video.

@@oh_aces I think Canon 6D for me as a family shooter , non pro , would be a good choice , i have a Sony a5000 , and its 24mbps , doesnt look as good as Canon 550D , but it has OSS i dont have OSS on canon and its small i love that . What Sony Full Frame has IBIS ? i dont hing A7 classic has it ?

@@dedskin1 I had the A7, A7r2 and 3. I hated all of them. I can also suggest that you check out the Panasonic Lumix S1for excellent video, and I think it has 100Mbps 4K compression with great color science. But it is a big camera. Under $1400 used sometimes. Continuous AF is not good however.

@@oh_aces that would be 2000$ where i am , and i have 0 panasonic lenses , and im a family shooter ... i mean everything past 500-600$ is really not in my league . I think im going with 6D , ther is just nothing better in that range , it has all i need . Tho i love Sony , has best sensors but thye probably didnt do good video on 7 classic , kept it for later ... like S log and stuff
