Lucas Allen I know this comment is really old, but I have to disagree. So Hyang is EXTREMELY controlled and knows exactly how and where to place her voice. She occasionally SOUNDS a bit nasal, but she’s not. That tone that can be mistaken for nasality is her twang that results from her raising her soft palate to make more room for efficient resonance as well as her placing her voice more forwards, which is the technique she has developed. She’s actually less nasal than most vocalists as raising the soft palate actually partially inhibits nasal airflow. Her resonance relies very little on nasal airflow and she has a similar placement and technique as someone like Mariah or Whitney, while singers like Celine and Lara Fabian rely more on a nasally placed voice to resonate (Lara less so than Celine).

Lucas Allen She has no nasality issues. It’s ok to sound nasal but don’t do it in the first place. Meaning it’s almost impossible to sing in one song without nasality esp. for the consonant “n m & ng” but she raises her soft palate all the time. Singing in nasal placement will never leave you great breath support.. you’ll end up loses stamina, weak vocals, poor transition etc. which is not a Sohyang thingy stuff.

Sohyang has this amazing clarity in her voice that follows even in her super high notes. She would have been much better to sing the new version of this than Ariana Grande (though, even though I'm not a fan, Ariana is a lovely singer). She has more of this old school ballad singer technique and style that suits the song more.
