The Soil Food Web School’s mission is to empower individuals and organizations to regenerate the soils in their communities. The Soil Food Web Approach can dramatically accelerate soil regeneration projects by focussing on the soil biome. This can boost the productivity of farms, provide super-nutritious foods, protect and purify waterways, and reduce the effects of Climate Change. No background in farming or biology is required for our Foundation Courses. Classes are online & self-paced, and students are supported by highly-trained Soil Food Web School mentors.
Over the last four decades, Dr. Elaine Ingham has advanced our knowledge of the Soil Food Web. An internationally-recognized leader in soil microbiology, Dr. Ingham has collaborated with other scientists and with farmers around the world to further our understanding of how soil organisms work together and with plants. Dr. Ingham is an author of the USDA's Soil Biology Primer and a founder of the Soil Food Web School.

Thanks for these case studies. It seems awesome and I’m glad to see the expansion and availability. The bar is pretty complicated and expensive up front. It takes some really vision to get past that entry level to get to the increased results. These case studies help encourage us to bite the bullet and hammer through. Those results are so necessary for improved soil, less water, more resilient, and of course greater production.

The cattle are healthier because the soil improvements are creating higher brix numbers in the grasses and other plants growing. The plants are more alkaline and sweeter to eat and easier to digest and minerals are higher too. The soil microbioda are sequestering the minerals and converting them so worms and plants can actualize them and take them up into their structures. There is no other way to farm or garden than befriending mother nature and allowing the soil microbioda and fungi to do their work. All benefit.

So exciting! I lease out my 20 acre N. Idaho field for Timothy Hay and want to use these methods. I will contact this company. In N. Idaho the logging business burns a lot of log waste/slash( mandatory to not spread disease) I keep hoping that there would be a way to better utilize the wood waste for the worm compost extract, or compost it on site. I have chipped wood thinning projects on my propery and used the chips for my food forest.. Anyone have any ideas to utilize this wood waste and not have to have burning smoke every year? Love all your work, so inspiring and gives me hope.

Make bio char with wood waste and inoculate it with the microbes...

Can it be scaled to backyard gardens? Lots of clay in Nampa. I try different things and my crop yield is decent.

Absolutely you can!! Just scale down usage for your area...that is what I am doing.

thanks for your question. Implementation of the Soil Food Web Approach can be at any scale. It is achieved by gathering microorganisms from your local area (found on the surfaces of various kinds of organic matter) then multiplying them using Dr. Elaine’s aerobic composting technique, before using them to inoculate the soil.

this is the one topic missing on the whole soil foodweb , yields compared to conventional farming , but I still find it too hard to believe that one single application of compost tea will bring such a big difference

I'm watching videos and making the inputs. It's been a huge learning curve for me the last 10 weeks....Dr Drake teaches in Hawaii and has books and stuff to buy. Chris Trump is also doing videos all on you tube...for anyone to learn...lots of videos available...sometimes one has to jump in head first and take massive action to obtain the knowledge needed to get the outcome desired. That's what I am doing.
