Not a mention in any of your soil vid's about mycorrhizae fungi.

Actually, I've mentioned my thoughts on fungi and soil pretty recently over the summer...but it was an off-KZbin exclusive episode. As a result far fewer people have watched it or know it exists lol ...but that's why i omitted that here.... here's the link since you asked (good comment & eye!) : www.theweedtube.com/video/magic-mushroom-storage-mushrooms-in-soil-your-other-questions-26790

@@LexBlazer All though I do thank you for the video link, I am left less then riveted. The pictures you highlighted were in fact not a mycorrhizae relationship forming fungi, but harmful species. The term "mycorrhizae fungi" is the general term for species of fungus that symbiotically form bonds with plants roots through literately growing into the root tissues and exchanging nutrients for sugars. The fruiting bodies you had shown are all harmful species that will directly compete for nutrient uptake with the roots,several being capable of small-scale chemical warfare to keep your plants roots at bay. Been keeping the same culture of several species for over 5 years now and using it in all my grows from citrus to veg to cannabis. The difference is palpable, being able to physically look at your root systems and notice the large change is remarkable.

Fey Frost do you grow in pots or in the ground? I had been reading recently about how mycorrhizae amendments are useless in pots when grower feed their plants with liquid/powdered feeds because as a result the plant and fungi have to reason to form a symbiotic relationship

I used to be all about the soil then I switched over to hempy buckets w a 50/50 perlite/vermiculite mix inoculated with recharge (humic,fulvic,mykos,kelp,bennies,carbs) and im never going back. You just have to be on top of the ph no room for error there. Its lightweight, cheap, pests do not like it, its easy to sterilize, cannot over water it, easier to flush and reusable indefinitely.

One of my favorite videos brother! No matter how many other trolls want to complain about "mycorrhizae", to me it's kinda a given and no brainer as to when you add it to your super soil mix(all organic). Like you said pick a good base soil first, and add usually worm castings or chicken poo works great I hear too or both and perlite/verm for better soil aeration, sometimes peat moss(but I heard something bad about adding peat to soil but cant remember what it was right now), coco, which I've never tried but going too soon and amend it with stuff like bat/bird guano, blood n bone meal, some Dolomite or Epsom salt and I always like to add a good amendment for the "micro" nutes as well, and should be good! Now I guess my question would be is it better to go ahead and add your microbes like an amendment (Recharge, n roots terp tea are good ones) and powder form like GW as well but never used that! Or add it like you do fish shit and just water it in your soil, which I know would take longer for microbes to break it down to food available for the plant so I guess what would be the best option here to introduce your microbial life into the super soil??? Thanks man! You've been quite helpful over the years my fellow Gromie!!! 👍💯👌😁🙏✊✌

What is your mixture if you dont mind telling? Im new to cannabis growing and curious of a basic non overcomplicated way to make a soil that will get the job done without mixing a million expensive ingredients. I understand NPKs and which additives add each macro but would love a basic rundown or guidance on small grow(10 plants) mixtures for soils that wont cost a bunch without buying premade ones. Not growing commercially but just my first try/experiment for personals.

I've been doing only soil amendments for the last half year. "live soil" if you want to call it that. I gather local soil made of peat and decomposed plants and pH-balance it with lime, add eifelgold for micronutrients, perlite, then add powdered or pelletized nutrients for NPK (and Mg if it wasn't already in the lime). It took some time to dial in but I now have the correct EC. But it's a lot of hassle. I will move towards the Lex Blazer way: prepare a good medium as before but feed the NPK using nutrient solution. I expect more consistent results.

Hey Lex, could you talk about watering? Phing ? and adding nutrients as the soil gets depleted. Tring to get a better tasting weed in the end. Thanks
@LexBlazer
@LexBlazer 5 жыл бұрын
the better taste is a mix of what the genetic taste actually is of your strain and how well you're doing your final flush. watch my flushing episode if you wanna get a better handle on that....I also have a full episode just dedicated to pH.

@@LexBlazer thanks lex! I would love to know about your watering! If you ph your water to a certain value. Also if you use liquid nutrients. The flush is what I missed on my grow because of weather and seeing some rot and powdery mildew. The taste suffered because it has a sodium kind of taste left in my mouth. I vape my flower.

I'm on a budget always, so I lightly doctor store bought soils, but for me that's good because I need to move forward gently with small dose increases at a time. Still need a lamp, but the fun is in the growing ; ) Your molasses trick seemed to be working for me. I used it as early as week 7. 3 left I found a cool lizard light for the uvb.

70 gallons, you want to wash away all of the soil leaving just the bare roots. clip half of those off and dip the entire plant in rooting hormone, take a bic lighter and burn the tips of the leaves a little, that'll teach the plant what happens if it decides not to grow right. after that, put it in a container full of pebbles and water it with a mixture of cow blood, insect and worm poop, chicken soup, x-lax, toothpaste, pond scum, and LOTS of bird poop - gonna want to buy a few pet birds and harvest their poop.

Can you still feed liquid nutes to a "live" soil mix? I'd imagine it would only be necessary later on in the grow. I have room for 1 plant only so i want to get this right from the start
@fattymcbastard6536
@fattymcbastard6536 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you _can,_ but now you're complicating things, and may build up salts in the soil, requiring you to pay attention to your runoff. Growing in live soil lets you set it, and forget it, if you stick with organic fertilizers.

Instead of using epsom salt.... let your soil cook for 3-4 weeks and then do a slurry Ph test on the dirt. If the Ph is too low, add dolomite lime which will release magnesium over time and raise/help buffer the Ph.

I just created one that's not really a soil I keep calling it that but it's apart lyrics I use all the ingredients in the last one except instead of topsoil I use cocoa and sphagnum and I put compost in one and didn't use compost in the other the compost is going to give you fungus gnats just get used to it buy you some yellow sticky paper inside of a week you won't see anymore this potting mix kicks ass this grow is the best my plants have ever looked at this stage from seed my last grow gave me the best tasting weed I have ever had I had living soil but with that living soil you get beneficial bugs and then you get pain in the ass ones like spider mites which I had to throw away 8 plants that were in flour no more living soil for me it's a lot less work when you can have everything you need in the soil and don't have to run out and buy nutrients I'm not against them I have a closet full but less is more
