Soil Prepping and Wheat Sowing, After-Contract Straw Collection | American Falls Farm | FS 22 | #19

Welcome back to the American Falls Farm Timelapse. Let's start by preparing the field for planting following the alfalfa harvest. We kick things off by utilizing the JOHN DEERE 8440 tractor paired with the JOHN DEERE RIPPER MODIFIED subsoiler for plowing. Once the soil is prepped, we introduce lime using the JOHN DEERE 4940 self-propelled spreader.
Before sowing, we decided to upgrade our equipment, replacing the KUHN ESPRO 6000 RC seeder with the JOHN DEERE N542C Dril Series seeder. This new setup is hitched to a JOHN DEERE 7R Series tractor, which we deploy for sowing wheat.
In addition to our primary task, we took on a contract to harvest oats, employing the JOHN DEERE 690i combine for successful completion. Instead of scattering straw during this process, we opted to create straw bales using our baler. Since the farmer had no use for the bales, they were offered to us. Following the contract's conclusion, we loaded the straw bales onto a platform trailer and transported them for processing into straw pellets.
