Why footing's own weight does not act on the upward load of the soil?

But mam, in Net soil pressure, the dead load of footing raft is taken with column vertical load & load coming over column isn't? Because while construction the raft of footing will remain at it's place as a dead load than we will subtract the self weight of footing to get net soil pressure... Please let me know mam if I am wrong.... Thanks
