Hi ... thanks for this very informative video on bearing capacity. I have one question, if you can plz reply. As per design drawing, designer notes that the design has been done considering the Allowable Net Bearing Capacity of soil as 500 kPa (with maximum allowable settlement of 25mm) and the same to be verified before construction. And while doing plate load test, the 3rd party lab. applied the maximum pressure of 786 kN/m2 with maximum load of 125 KN (450mm dia plate used). They provided the result as "Allowable Bearing Capacity" of 314.4 kN/m2 by using factor of safety 2.5. Now the question is how can we differentiate "Allowable bearing Capacity" and "Allowable Net Bearing Capacity" to compare the designer's assumed value and the result from plate load test. Your reply will be appreciated. Thanks
