Wonderfully played. Great. Full of rhythm, strength and delicacy. The Cecile Licad and the Magaloff renditions are also excellent ones. Then there is this Sokolov account, which I love. 🤗💙👌💎

@v8a8n8o8s8s I put a record of 1969 also, from Kiev. I don't know the year of this, but i have an other from later years, so i think also this is. Yours should be the first record! ;-)

I believe I have this recording on Melodia OS 2186. The sleeve says that Sokolov was 17-year old at the time, which would put the recording date at around 1967-1968.

Seems everyone has some kind of difficulty with the first movement. I certainly did! Rachmaninov's 1929 recording took 9 takes on just this movement. He chose the 7th for release! Bless Schumann! Unfortunately I part ways with his large hands and gymnastic finger performances! Oh well, I'm more the Chopin kind of guy and have a similar hand to his!

Schumann had his middle finger paralysed and he was probably able to play it so hand size does not matter 😜

I still like Rubinstein's recording the (very) best. Even Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli made a better recording of Schumann's Carnaval op. 9 (IMHO). Especially on the "Marche de Davidsbündler contre les Philistins" most pianists thend to use different tempi only Rubinstein seems to hold the March strictly till the end - amazing! :D
