Something interesting about Jonathan Tene’s play is that when he does the bandit high-low, after going low with a HS he actually does a microdash before letting 2k rip, which lets him combo the 2k 2d into a clean hit volcanic viper. I think that’s pretty cool.

genuinely no reason for clean hit heavy volcanic viper to outdamage 80 percent of the super moves in the game. its a braindead move. its not even hard to hit, there are so many guaranteed setups and he ACTUALLY doesn't need it.

Is just landing heavy hit dp
@Crossbeare6 ай бұрын
@@tylercafe1260 yeah I just need to route specifically to make that work. Those routes just don’t do as much as the Heavy Viper. I should probably just play Ky if I don’t enjoy the routing

First order of business is getting the hang of the DP input. Don’t be afraid to spam dp on wakeup, since despite its scrubby reputation, it’s actually really good practice for the 623 input in general (don’t forget to do it on the other side as well!) Second most important thing is learning how to end a combo with jD wallbounce into 2k -> cl HVV. That’s your standard combo ender in the corner and it’s pretty easy to do. If you’re having trouble landing HVV, this is the first route you should try to master. Practice by doing this corner combo: cS->HS, run up 5k jump jS, slight delay jD, run up 2k->HVV. This also happens to be your basic corner bnb. After that, get the hang of air hit cS jc HVV. It’s tricky for beginners, but it’ll quickly become second nature. Use this for when you want to tack on some easy damage after a midscreen rrc. It’s very consistent, gives a workable knockdown, works even at high scaling, and adds good damage for your meter investment. If you don’t know how to end an rc combo, default to this. After you feel like you can do the previous thing with your eyes closed, start practicing cS and 5k karas. It’s personally easier to do karas with the dash macro, but it’ll benefit you later on to learn 6s karas. Karas don’t just enable clean hit stuff, they can also give a boost to your specials enabling combos that were previously off limits. After this is the advanced territory. You don’t need these techniques to win, but they’ll enable higher damage output on average if mastered, but ultimately lie in the realm of fringe optimization rather than necessity. This is stuff I’m still not entirely comfortable with either, so don’t feel bad for messing this stuff up. 2k 6s kara. This is the next step to the jD 2k HVV combo mentioned at the start. Mastering this will let you get a clean hit even at higher scaling and at farther distances, and will also expand some of your midscreen combos to let you end with a clean HVV. Basically, if you’re able to end with an air hit 2k, chances are you’ll be able to kara that into a clean hit VV. Practice this by turning on counter hits and doing 2k kara 6s into HVV. Tiger Knee Extensions. This is where Sol’s “fuck you” damage comes from, and is an extension of the cS jc HVV technique. If you get a counter hit cS, buffer a jump, then jHVV as soon as you’re airborne, you’ll land quick enough after the HVVto continue the combo with a 5k, possibly landing 2 HVVs in one combo without spending meter. Needless to say, this does a TON of damage, but is incredibly difficult, not just in execution but also requires reacting to the counter hit, which is difficult in the heat of the match. If you want more straightforward combo tutorials, check out Mocchi’s channel. He has some great Sol Badguy combo guides. Check out Totsubunger’s clips on youtube for some inspiration and to see where the limits of Sol’s potential lie, and where they’re being pushed. For further research, watch high level matches of players like Mocchi, Umisho, and Totsubunger. Keep an eye on the combos they do most frequently and in what situations they’re doing them. Don’t bother learning with a hyper specific combo before a more broadly used combo, and watch out for when they do things that you didn’t expect and try to think about why they did that thing. Of course, Dustloop dot com is always a great resource too, and nothing beats goofing off in training mode. Remember, start easy, then work your way up.
