I’m impressed with Teeny’s social preparation for the game. Practicing meeting lots of new people and getting them to like her, etc. You hear about mental, strategic, physical, and survival prep, but not a lot about social prep (reading books doesn’t count). Social wins the game, so very smart.

I agree with you 90%, and maybe this is my hot take! But I wish he would talk a little quieter into the mic! I thought maybe this was an artifact of talking over Zoom to people 12 hours away on an island and either the Zoom glitches/lags or trying to compensate for that, but he talks like that to Rob as well! It’s like he’s raising his voice to put a lot of strained energy into it, when I feel like the tech could deal with projecting his voice just fine without him trying to do it so actively. I’m somehow the 41 year old who’s never watched Survivor until this season (but like Sol I’m an immediate convert), and I’m new both to Mike Bloom (and RHAP in general)… I’m still very much here for his interviews though, because you’re totally right about the rest of his energy and interview style, and his pun game is always on point!

Sol is SUCH a contrast in terms of energy to the likes of Rome and even Kishan (in very different ways!) from the Team Lavo interviews so far, and I think he brings a good grounding presence to the group. Looking forward to seeing more of him!

I don’t know why but something about Sol isn’t hitting with me. Hopefully he proves me wrong. I don’t get the Kaleb comparison at all. Kaleb just exudes charm and I can say that having met him a couple of times. Just not getting that out of Sol. He seemed stiff and a little arrogant to me.

I feel like that's just the way he talks. He's more subdude than others but I actually see a lot of character in him, because of his calm. He does sound a bit arrogant somewhat but literally everyone in these interviews talk about their abilities believing in themselves. If anything, we'll see how he does in the actual season!

I don’t think you can draw that conclusion based on an interview over Zoom! It’s not about *actual* eye contact in that scenario, because if you want to give the impression of making eye contact you have to make a conscious effort to look directly at the camera and not at the actual screen with the eyes of the person you’re talking to! I’m an autistic person with decent to so-so eye contact personally (I feel very aware of the fact it feels overwhelmingly exposing to make sustained eye contact with someone while actually speaking, but I have much less of a struggle maintaining eye contact when someone else is talking to me), and I know it’s a huge stereotype as an autistic trope, and sometimes gets thrown around as a kind of shorthand for saying someone’s autistic. I have no clue whether Teeny’s autistic or not from what I’ve seen of them so far, but from the episodes I haven’t got the impression of them being bad at eye contact at all. I see what you mean about this interview though… I just couldn’t help but jump in here and add some of my own context!
