@u r i don't think the point of dark souls is tragedy. It's overcoming tragedy through the grit of the human spirit. Everyone else gave up. The crestfallen warrior, lautrec, champion gundyr, gwyn, the twin princes, anri and horace, the pyromancer of ds1... in the end, they all gave up and their willpower couldn't match that of the undead. Of us. Solaire is the ONLY npc who never gives up. His story is still bittersweet, and shows you aren't that special. In every world there will be someone of phenomenal strength and willpower who will overcome everything

Kinda sucks that you can save him and he'll be depressed but when you link the fire I guess that'll be the "sun" he's been looking for. Although based upon the lore the black knights are actually silver but they've been scorched from Gwyn linking the flame. So Solaire's fate can be anything from that point onward. Atleast we pushed back the age of dark with our buddy Solaire. Praise the sun.

“The very flow of time itself is convoluted” this one line is so mystifying, like what? You mean these monsters are here because their bleeding through time portals? Are the fog doors like time portals to fight a creature that existed in the past in the future in its now dilapidated arena? It makes the series so much more mysterious to me like “heroes from centuries old phasing in and out” are these the summons he speaks of? I doubt it because he seems to differentiate Hollow from Hero, is he talking about the bosses? Just this one line from this amazing character makes my mind go wild.

On my first playthrough I absolutely fell in love with Solaire the first time I met him, but an errant R1 accidentally made me his mortal enemy, and I couldn't figure out what to do. What I should have done, what I regret to this day not doing, was run away, find the nearest bonfire and look up how to fix the problem, but that's not what happened. My amateur ass didn't even know Absolution was a thing until 10 hours into the game. I was so freaking bummed that I decided the next best thing I could do would be to wear his armor set and beat the game as 'Solaire', and a few dozen hours later that's exactly what I did.

You need 25 faith to trigger it as well as summon him for previous encounters. (I don't remember if the second one in required, but I know the first one is, just put it there as a second possible reason)

You can trigger it after meeting him in Anor Londo. 1st meeting - Undead Burg. 2nd - Anor Londo. 3rd - Sunlight Altar. If you have more or equal 25 faith this dialogue might not appear as Solaire will offer you to join Warrior of Sunlight covenant.

I found my sun when I froze a star that had a victory on it to share a drink then reignited it, also blood brothering Sol is a step to plant lordship, grass it's not greener on the other side, I bought a cobalt speechmaster after my grass lordship.
