The important part to remember is that someone is spending their money anyway - they are just choosing to give it to the utility company instead. This system will pay for itself at least 2 times before the warranty even expires.

A typical carport will cost about $5 per watt, so a 20kW system would run about $100,000, or about $70,000 after the tax credit. A 20kW system will produce around 30,000kWh per year.
