why 284 added?

To offset the equinoxes at 0 deg. For example the vernal equinox is the 81st day of the year. 284+81=365. 360/365*365=360 and sin of 360 is 0. 23,45*0 is 0 so at the equinox the sun’s declination is 0 degrees (equator)

@@CHANNEL4WERNER this formula is inaccurate for a bunch of other reasons. The suns apparent movement between the tropics in time is not a perfect sine wave anyway because of the different orbital speeds throughout the year. So there’s that for example. The 365.25 vs 365 is the least of its concerns :)
