Turned out decent but I made numerous mistakes that day. First, the video camera, a Panasonic G85 shooting in 4K, was mounted atop my still camera assembly as I was also shooting stills as can be heard in the video -- I used a remote intervalometer at 3 seconds/shot. But, the shutter and mirror slap resulted in some jittter. I had another video camera, a Panasonic GH2, shooting background video in HD but I made the mistake of leaving it in AF mode and when it got darker the focus started hunting. In addition, I didn't quite nail the exposure with this camera or the two cameras shooting stills. Lastly, I bit off way more than I could handle using 5 cameras at the same time -- no way I could attend to all of them properly in the slightly more than 2 minutes of totality. Oh well, perhaps in 7 years I'll get another shot at it.

I made a correction to the comments in the "show more" section -- I realized I'd stated I'd used a Nikon D800E with the Sigma 150-600 lens when in fact it was a Nikon D7200. I did use two Nikon D800E's in separate setups but not the one here. One of the D800E's, shooting stills at one per 4 seconds using an intervalometer and the other shooting HD video of the crowd.

I traveled to Victor Idaho to see it. It's a memory I will never forget. Now I get why people travel around the world chasing the solar eclipse. Great video of the eclipse. Thanks.

Thanks David. Yeah, when I drove up for the Salt Lake City area to Idaho, near the Mackay Reservoir, the traffic was pretty heavy all the way from SLC. I figured I'd have the place to myself but I guess more than a hundred other people had the same idea. The Mackay Reservoir was packed with people, several hundred, and it took a few minutes to get passed it due to traffic. The drive home was even more traffic. But, the show was amazing and well worth the 290 mile one way trip.

Do you have any footage of how the surroundings looked during the blackout?

I do, but the one camera I wanted to get the wide shot of the surroundings I mistakenly left in autofocus and as it darkened the focus system started hunting but I didn't notice until I reviewed the video after. I had a second camera capturing the surrounding crowd and maybe I'll upload that. I also have some still images from two other cameras. All together I used 5 cameras with 2 shooting stills and 3 video, but that turned out to be too much as I did not have time to check them all out during the 2:15 of the eclipse.
